Hey all!

The petition should hopefully be approved around the end of April or May.

Would it be okay to go ahead and get all the paperwork needed for our sponsor, and get my fiancé’s police check and medical stuff out of the way? (Basically what can we go ahead and get done so it’s ready to send off once we get the ‘go ahead’)

Thanks so much!

The closer to the interview date the better. You can start gathering all the documents but don’t sign or send anything yet. For police checks, unless it takes a long time to get them, you usually have to wait until it’s closer to the interview because they have an expiration date. As for medical, you cannot schedule that without your case number and you only get that from NVC after they have received your approved petition and entered it in the system.

Right! The police checks have an expiration date of 6 months, so that should be fine to do. And my fiancé has to get vaccination records from his GP. Does he have to send that on himself or does the GP send it?

You have to check the website specific for your embassy. Every country is different. Every embassy has a website with instructions on what the next steps are and how to proceed.

U.K. Police certificate is valid 12 months.Ok to order now.

Get shot record now from GP nurse so you know what has already been given and can get needed shots and medical summary printout in Apr/May.

Make sure passport will have 6 months remaining at interview time (Maybe July/Aug) or get renewal.

Find birth certificate or order a copy. Must have parent names on it.

Wait until end of April to send Affidavit of support.

As stated earlier, procedures are different in different countries.
