How Accurate is the Estimated Case Completion Time?

I filed my N400 back in November 2017. I know it hasn't been that long compared to some in the forum, but I really am eager to get in line for interview and get the citizenship as soon as possible. So I logged on to my portal and find the estimated case completion time says December 2018 (10 months)! That is just the way too long... I was really hoping to get the citizenship prior to July 2018. Is there a possibility that the estimated time can be wrong and I can complete my case much sooner? I am a San Francisco filer. Thank you so much!

When did you file your n400? And when was your interview?

M.

Hopefully you’ll get an interview before that. That’s to long. Where is your field officer?

Wow. Congrats. I am still waiting my oath ceremony. My status online says I’m in line still.

Your N400 was approved pretty quickly too. Hopefully it will be the same with receiving your oath ceremony!

I think I was lucky enough to get an interview specially my i751 still pending when I filed for n400.

Did you apply online or with a paper application? It does seem that right now, people who applied online seem to be getting approved earlier than the estimates on the USCIS website... and to be honest, the dates that USCIS posts are somewhat arbitrary, in a "cover your a**" kind of way.

Is your timeline updated?

Thank you all for the replies. I guess the processing time varies depending on different field offices. It seems San Francisco has a slower processing time compared to others, which is unfortunate. I am still hoping miracle would happen that I can get the citizenship prior to this coming July.

I filed online. I think most of the applicants nowadays apply online so it no longer makes a difference in terms of the processing speed.

Thank you all again!

The estimated timeline is not accurate so you don't need to worry. The timelines VJ members fill up in the reports subforum is what you should look at.

I'm in Boston, the whole process took me 4 months, filed Oct 23 2017, intereviewed Jan 8 2018, oath Feb 15 2018. My estimated time online was May 2018.
