And yes, that's exactly what she said. That she was tired of me belittling her and criticizing her. I didn't realize I was doing this and I felt incredibly sorry for hurting her like that... I didn't have her high enough on my priority list either. I've pointed out all of the things I thought I was doing wrong to her and how I will fix them and she was still set in her decision...

Maybe she just felt that whilst you said you would change that it was too ingrained in your personality to not do this anymore or that she didn’t want to be around whilst you worked on it possibly fearing you having relapses into your old behaviors along the way.

Whatever her reasons what done is done, all you can do is learn from this for your next relationship.

As to you and your parents plan (which is how your post described it which is why people have been on at you as it just wasn’t your parents saying do this but your plan as well from your description) I think you realize now it’s not the smartest of ideas but I think you need to look at all suggestions they give you about immigration and objectively judge it and not just go along with it. Do you have evidence showing that you stay in status you whole time?

The ‘honesty’ you mention, is this how your parents speak to each other or to you?

It would be sad if you have to leave but you might just not have a choice in the matter.

Etamkoos: thank you, I’ve definitely took heed to the words here. Appreciate your input.

Illiria: I went back and looked at my post and youre right. I definitely worded it wrong. My parents brought up the idea to me and I just kind of went with it because I didnt have any sense of direction anymore. But I was not the one that initally came up with that. I know now not to go that route.

by “honesty” I guess I meant how I would want my friends to treat me. Tell me straight up honestly what bothers them as I thought this was good communication. That thinking was clearly very, very wrong. This whole experience has been the most painful thing I’ve experienced so far in my life and I’ll definitely remember this lesson forever...

She can divorce you in Texas whether you cooperate or not.  Couple thousand dollars tops.  Probably less than a thousand.

You don't have to sign anything for the court to award a divorce, nor can you delay it once she meets the separation period after she files.  I don't know who has been giving you legal advice but Texas is a no-fault state and divorces are awarded automatically after they are filed and the waiting period requirements are met.  Not signing?  LOL - the judge won't care.  He'll award it whether you are there or not and you can go pick up the divorce record from the courthouse if you need it.

Fact is, you need to either plan to qualify for immigration on your own merits or plan to leave.  Unfortunately there are rules and you have to follow them.  Good luck.
