My fiancé and I do not have a ton of friends and family here in the US so our plan is to get married at the courthouse and take a trip during the summer. I have the impression that UCSIS wants to see a big wedding and pictures of what happened there. What should we do?

Not true. We did a court house wedding/ceremony, just had like 5 people there with us.

I don't think there are many couples able to do a grand wedding immediately. It's almost impossible to organize if you can't plan a date. I think most couples have a simple courthouse wedding when the beneficiary first arrives and have a big anniversary the year after. That's how we are going to do it anyway. I wouldn't worry about it. A big party and pictures are just secondary evidence. The most important things is your actual marriage and proof that you share your life (joint accounts, bills, taxes ect)

Every wedding is different, so your pictures and other such are going to be different.  As long as the entire process seems legit, the differences won't make all that much difference.

I know that back when I had to go through all that, they did not even look at the pictures we had, until my wife insisted in showing one of them for the comedic value of it...  Additionally, that was from our "second" ceremony, since we had a "courthouse" wedding first, and a full ceremony later on with friends.

We did not do a big wedding either it was a courthouse wedding that had literally 5 people there as well. We had NO issues with AOS at all and they did not ask about why we decided to do that instead of a church wedding. We had pictures of us getting married that we sent.

Just go with whatever you want to do and what makes you happy. We didn't have a large budget at the time so we decided to save the money and do a courthouse marriage.
