Hello everyone.

Here's my timeline:

Date Mailed: 01/18/2018
Date Received/Priority Date: 01/22/2018
Received Text/Email: 01/29/2018
Date Received NOA Letters: 02/02/2018
Received Biometrics Letter: 02/08/2018

I did Biometrics today. Yesterday I received a courtesy letter from USCIS on a yellow paper informing me that they have reviewed my documents and noticed that I haven't submitted the form i693 and to bring an updated from(medical exam) at an interview. They also said not to send it right now, to wait for a RFE before the interview. However, I haven't received an interview notice. I know it's too soon for that but I was wondering what it meant. Does it mean that I wouldn't get an RFIE and my case is ready to move forward?

I don't know from what visa or status are adjusting from but they are basically requesting you the vaccination form. If you are adjusting from a k1 visa for example (a fiance visa) you need to go through a medical examination at your home country that also includes vaccines. The doctor who performed the examination must have given you a copy of your vaccination record that must be submitted with the AoS package. The thing is that I dont know fro where you are adjusting form.

They are telling you, you will get infact a RFE but you need to wait until you get it and you must follow anything that is written there. Usually the AoS process takes TIME, just to get the temporary employment card, is taking 90 days (this is something you receive while you wait for the green card) and according to timelines I've seen so far, the AoS process is taking 6 to 11 months.

You need to wait until you get the rfe, but in the midtime dont send anything. If you have a copy of your medical just hold onto it, and if you dont...start looking for a local surgeon and start now because they are very very expensive in my opinion

The Medical exam expires after one year, so some people chose not to submit it with their application because if it is expired ( > 1 year old) at the time of the interview then they will be required to do another medical (and pay for it).

You did not submit a medical with your application and the notice you received indicates as much. It is telling you that you will need to take a completed medical to your interview.

I have received the same letter, but I already sent the completed singed and sealed I-693. It is not expired because I completed it 4 months ago. I called USCIS and they say we do not your I-693 and you must bring the copy at the time of interview in future. I think the officer who answered me may  not know much about the situation. Because the copy was not sealed by the doctor. I worry that this may postpone my case after I go for the interview and they say you need to do over the medical exam and bring the new one! Does any body know about it and how I address the problem?

Thanks

I've been reading persons posts who say that they got RFE after the interview for their i693 because of it being expired and later getting their green card after they would have submitted it. If they say to bring it to the interview or wait until you get an RFE then do so. It may also be a case whereby your civil surgeon neglected to input the information correctly or probably missed some part of it. I personally think it's a good idea to have the doctor make a copy of the original just in case things like this happens. Keeps us updated. Good luck.

Hi Kaylip,

I received the same yellow courtesy letter from the USCIS about my medical. However, the medical was submitted but the physician submitted it on an expired form. I received that notice on March 18, 2018. I have not yet heard from USCIS.  I'm adjusting my status from a J1 to the Green card. I am from Jamaica.

Kaylip, have you heard anything else from USCIS?

@Kaylip, is your 485 approved. I have the same letter from USCIS. Please let me know what they asked at the interview.

Yes, it was approved 5 weeks after the interview (the officer had told me and my husband to allow 2-5 weeks before we get anything in the mail). The officer basically asked us about 3 questions and we were out within 10 minutes.

He just asked how we met, who's the better cook and what trips we took together. That was it.
