So I have all my documentation together and now all I need to do is mail it. Right now, I have everything dividing up and put into file folders. I also went to Target and bought a 10 pocket case to hold each file. Now I'm wondering if it's a good idea to mail the pocket case. If I do, it probably means I will need to send it in a small package/box. If I just send the file folders, I may be able to send it in a large, padded envelope. I know it's not that big of a deal either way, but I'm curious as to what most people did. Also, how did you send it - regular post with delivery receipt, registered, etc..?

Read here the USCIS General Tips on Assembling Applications for Mailing:

http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis/men...00045f3d6a1RCRD

I don't think they want to see a huge pocket case, as they will probably take it out of it in the mailroom anyway... never to be seen by the adjudicating officer.

We've used USPS priority with delivery confirmation. Worked fine for us.

I think faster service like express or overnight only make sense if you are under extreme time pressure (i.e. send your package very close to the expiry date of the green card).

I definitely would not mail the package in a pocket case, and neither would I put documents into separate file folders. You should make sure all your documents stay attached to each other, otherwise you are taking the chance that some of your documents could get separated from the rest of the package.

We sent our package certified mail, and we could track it's delivery status online.

Good luck for a speedy approval.

Hey there,

It seems like you're packaging everything to elaborately. I don't think they much feel like going through a huge package. Think clear, but simple. We wrote down all the contents in a cover letter, then put all the contents together in the order we listed. That way they have a list of what contents there are, and in what order, so they can quickly get to something if needed. Raymaga suggested to have all documents attached. I personally didn't do that, but it might be a good thing to do.

Your package seems to be sufficient. Make sure you can track your package and you have receipt confirmation. We were very late with the filing, so we fed-exed it.

Good luck.

We sent ours USPS priority with delivery confirmation. We had to do priority mail since it was under 1 inch thick, and if you want delivery confirmation for something under 1 inch it must be priority mail.

It got there in two days.

I would not send it in the folders and all that that you mentioned.

I just sent it USPS priority with a tracking #. Why would u send them junk mail. Man if I was lookinmg at ur case and u sent me junk mail, I wouldnt be to pleased, lol

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

We sent ours express mail and the delivery confirmation was included. This way our package was guaranteed next day delivery. Maybe we didnt have to do this since we were sending it with the 90 day window but after speaking with the drivers license office for my state we were told that my husband couldnt use the extension letter to renew his license(which expires the same day as his greencard) that they required his actual new unexpired green card. After I spoke with the director he pointed me to the correct contact person and he confirmed that my husband could renew his drivers license with the extension letter but each time he renews he would have to pay the full renewal fee whether or not it were for a year or 4 years. Since my husband is the only driver in our home, we freaked okay.

I did the exact same thing... All papers were stacked together with a binder clip with the check on the top...
