Hi, i received a rfie that clearly asks for sponsor assets since it doesnt qualify or a joint sponsor (it asks for us citizenship proof, tax returns and supporting tax documents, like schedules, form 2555, w2’s,1099s and form I864) it states that they will take a desicion based on my response, so I sent my joint sponsor who overqualifies, schedules, just tax documents, (2014, 2015, 2016) nothing of pay stubs or employment letter, nothing like it because the letter doesnt ask for it, anyways my joint sponsor is a landlord and investor, I read somewhere he doesnt have to show documents, I wonder if im ok, plus I sent again my husband’s form i864; and last two tax returns, plus both bank statements for the last 12 months, to cover 2017; the lawyer says its ok with it, but does anybody has experience with it?

What income did you initially submit, your husbands or the joint sponsor's ?
Do either meet the guidelines ?
An affidavit of Support RFE contains all general listing (joint sponsor/assets/ etc even if you just forgot to include a document, it will still
mention the joint sponsor and assets.
Without knowing what you submitted before it is somewhat difficult to say that what send with the RFE response is sufficient.
If your landlord is self employed then they go by line 22 as income.
Whatever your landlord has as proof for his income besides the official tax transcripts from the IRS should have been re submitted.
He needs to prove income for 2017 and the 2 months of this year not just 2014,2015,2016 taxes.

We initially just sent the i864 of my husband, he is an independent contractor, we sent his banks statements for the last 12 months and paystubs for the last 6 months, we filled wrong the numbers so he doesnt qualify, so we received the rfie asking specifically for assets or a joint sponsor, in case of opting for joint sponsor they asked proof of citizenship, form i864; most recent income tax returns, copies of supporting documents like w2,s, 1099,s, 2555 and tax schedules. Thats the only things they asked for, so my father-in-law accepted to be the joint sponsor and as he has a company but he doesnt want to disclose all his monetary info, the lawyer advice just his personal taxes, so we sent his tax returns and tax documents for his personal money, which is his social security benefits, rents from properties and some investments, line 22 overqualifies, the lawyer advice to send 2014; 2015; and 2016 and his bank statements for the las 12 months to cover 2017, but I didnt list it in assets because it says is optional, I just sent copies, he has over 100 thousand in his account. In occupation we listed him as “landlord and investor”; we didnt sent proof of his resources, I read somewhere that certain proffesions doesnt have to send proof like landlord for instance, but we didnt sent any more support because the letter didnt ask for, like receipts from his ssb, but again, the letter didnt ask, the lawyer says is ok and if uscis needs more proof they are going to ask me for, but Im concerned if I had to send more even if they didnt ask anything else. We opted for joint sponsor to qualify, but anyways I sent the taxes of my husband for the last two years and his savings account. Plus copies of birth certificates and both forms i864. I wonder if Im ok.

I am self employed and and received a RFE.
You can read through my drama from 3 years ago and how I solved it.
They are very strict on evidence for the self employed.
It is not guaranteed that you will receive a 2. RFE, they can deny you if you didn't satisfy the first.
If the income is sufficient then assets aren't required.
Different self employment / businesses require different evidence so let your husband read through it and
decide what to send in the event you get another RFE.
I gave plenty examples in the thread.
If you father in law claims his income he must prove it other than tax return.
They also want a projected income for this current year and proof.
