They are not connected, issued by different entities.

Yes, but on the new EAD forms you apply for SSN concurrently. So they are connected...

When one is approved, it triggers the SSA to send the card as well. I want to know for those who recently received EAD, how long it took to get the SSN in the mail.

Faxed in my evidence and painfully waiting to hear back...the holidays don't help :(

11/13: PD Date

12/12: Biometrics

12/16: I765 Expedite requested over the phone due to job offer

12/19: Visited Congressmans office and submitted expedite request/evidence

12/20: Request for Evidence received

12/20: Faxed evidence to the number

12/23: Faxed again...

12/26: Last effort to fax (need to make sure)

Job offer starts on January 13 and they want my EAD asap :( Anyone else with similar timeline? Really hoping to hear back soon.

From the reports that I have seen in the various forums, that procedure, like many others trying to simplify the USCIS and SSA processes is resulting in mixed results. People fill out the appropriate information on the I-765 and never get the SSN card. Methinks that the procedure is "not ready for prime time." ;)

I have begun to recommend that folks forego that often ill-fated procedure, and just fill-out the SS-5 application on line, print it out, and then take it to their local SSA office, to sign, and submit. That procedure does work, provided you have the documentation as mentioned on the SS-5 application: https://www.ssa.gov/forms/ss-5.pdf

Good luck on your immigration journey and Happy Holidays !!  🎁

I just had my EAD expedite case denied. Waiting on the letter, but online it says "You did not provide evidence of an extreme emergent need". I sent a job offer along with a cover letter like everyone else stating everything. Pretty depleted.

Just an update...my congressman's office got back to me and mentioned that my EAD expedite is being held up because of i-485 "pre-processing". Does anyone know what exactly they are referring to?

Oh no!!!! I am so sorry to hear that :( . You can resubmit a request after 5 days from what I hear. Go to the congressman or senator's office and ask for help as soon as possible. I really feel for you.

Also, this is after the officer reviewed your request and asked for evidence? When did you apply? Can you provide your timeline?

Update your application and try again.

Yes this was after they received my evidence I submitted. I initially applied on the 12th of November for the expedite request.

Yes, It is hard to know what will be accepted. Seeing as I had a good cover letter and job offer which seems to work for 90% of the people I see on here. I guess I was an unlucky candidate and had my case reviewed by an unfavourable officer.

I would not.like to say what does and does not work as every case is specific and everybody's hardships will be different.

Division 5 Team 3. Yes filed under financial loss.

An hourly paid job in the golf industry, that is my field of work. It was actually a career advancing job also. I stated all of this in the cover letter along with my wife struggling to pay her student loans.

Feeling frustrated - I'm sure many of you are too!

On the 10th Dec, I received a job offer letter. The same day, I called USCIS and requested my EAD be expediting on the grounds of financial hardship (my husband is a full time student and his income falls below the poverty guideline).

On the 17th, I received the request to fax evidence to USCIS. I did this on the same day - sending the notice, cover letter, job offer letter, proof of husband's student status, etc.

I haven't received any email/text to confirm this evidence has been received.... I'm thinking of calling USCIS on Monday to see if they can check that the faxed stuff was received?

And I've been checking the Case Status thing online (using my inital receipt number for the I-765 that I got months ago), but it still says "Case was updated to show fingerprints were taken".

There hasn't been a single update on the Case Status thing...

I have a Referral ID too - is there anywhere I can actually use this?

Finding this whole process incredibly frustrating! And very grateful for any help. Hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas :) Emily

Hey!

I completely share your frustration, I’m on the same timeline as you :/. I did see my case update to show that I submitted an expedite request... and in the blurb it references the referral ID the customer service rep gave me as well as the day that the officer sent the request for evidence.

No word on my evidence though and I’ve called consistently to see if they’ve received it. One Tier 2 officer I spoke with mentioned that once you fax in your evidence, you should hear back within 3 weeks if it’s been accepted if that helps?  I would call so they at least get your case tracker updated to reflect the expedite request.

good luck and keep us posted!! I’m waiting to hear back too.

I did not hear anything after sending my evidence for 3 weeks and only then was it updated to ''assigned to an officer".
