Hi, I have some questions regarding expedite through phone to USCIS versus through congressman.

1,

It seems that it takes about at least five days from starting the phone call to faxing out the docs.

If through congressman, not counting the time spent getting in touch with congressman, do they send out the request and doc at the same time, or do they also have to wait like five days for further instructions?

2,

The general consensus here seems to be first use phone expedite and then reach out to congressman to follow up or re-expedite. What is the rationale for following this sequence? Any downside to reaching out to congressman directly?

Thank you

Hi, congrats on getting your card!

I saw that you said you sent 3 expedite request. Could you share your experience a bit? How long did you wait between these requests, and any guess about why the first two didn't work? Thank you!

Hi everyone! I submitted an expedite request directly to USCIS (over the phone) on April 30 and submitted the supporting documentation through fax on May 3. I have not heard anything since.. I tried reaching to my congressman but have not been able to get a response from their office yet. From what I've seen on here it can take around a month to get a response from USCIS. Is that the case? Have any of you had any experience with not hearing anything back, not even that they received the documents? Should I resend the fax?

Ask your employer to write a letter that states that you're employed by them, and that they value you as a team member and would like for you to continue working for them without interruption, and since they won't be able to employ you without a valid work authorization, could USCIS please consider expediting.

Call USCIS and expedite based on severe financial loss. In your cover letter, state basically the above, and include the letter from your employer. If you have bills to pay, mention it; if this is a really great job that doesn't happen often, of course mention that.

But that's all you need. It's a bit easier to get EAD expedited when you're already employed, so with an employer letter and a brief description of your situation, you should be good to go.

Do it now, by the way, don't wait.

Thank you! Could you tell me the process to expedite? And how long would they take to inform me if they approved my expedite request or not? Thank you so much.

Call the 1800 number, speak to a representative (options 1,2,4,6) and request the expedite under financial hardship,

there is no set time until the expedite is approved, take the time to read a few pages thru the thread, from the few cases I saw here and there, it ranges from 1 to 3 months until the approval.

Good luck

What are the options I should choose to expedite my EAD by calling. I tried multiple times. I just am not able to talk to a rep. Please help.

According to a tier 2 officer, they have 30 business days to respond to requests. That's actually 6 weeks. It's pretty normal not to hear anything after faxing evidence. If you call and ask for Tier 2 they *might* be helpful, but likely no one will be able to confirm whether they received the evidence. It's all very frustrating.  I sent my fax twice just in case but still didn't hear anything, and it's been 5 weeks.

@tiantian2 I wouldn't worry about those posts. Proceed as is.

eckoin....in a very similar situation such as your timeline (although more current).  Current TN expires in August, and with the latest USCIS update on Processing Times posted Friday, I had no choice but to file an expedite.  I hope mine goes as smoothly as yours appears to have gone.

Good luck! Good on you for applying early.

Make sure to get a letter from your employer and to have a concise explanation of why this job is important for your family's financial wellbeing.

I personally submitted all EAD documentation (passport, driver's license, etc) plus W2s and tax returns and my husband's business stuff because I like overkill, and it served me well.

Yep...could not wait any longer given the latest Processing Times update on 5/24.  Just unacceptable!

My CV to USCIS is already drawn up and ready to be shipped off To Whom It May Concern.  My employer is Gov't, and absolutely will not tolerate or permit any kind of even potentially unauthorized employment.  Naturally, having held TNs for a few years, I completely recognize and respect the restrictions that come with TNs.  The effect of not getting my EAD in time will be catastrophic (mortgage payment, car payment, health and other insurances, no longer allowed to drive, can't pay any monthly expenses, and on and on and on).  I am the primary income earner, and we literally will be facing homelessness without my ability to work.

I have the W2s, Tax Transcripts/1040's, and pictures of my PP/TN auth stamp, D/L, etc.  Like you, I agree with MORE info than what is necessary, but it certainly goes to supporting your justification.

Thanks for your best wishes; I can only hope!  Time is ticking away very, VERY quickly.....
