Nevermind, I figured it out - sorry for the needless question!

Go to this link: https://egov.uscis.gov/casestatus/displayLogon.do

Log on, select the I-765 case (if you don't have an account you'll have to enter it manually, it should be an MSC #). Then scroll down and you should see info about an expedite request under Case History.

More oddities in our EAD process?

On USCIS.gov (in early/mid April), our I-765 page said that our request to have our EAD expedited was "completed" - i.e., that they wanted supporting evidence. My wife and I faxed supporting evidence twice (we had to call in to receive the fax and attention numbers. We haven't received a mail with those yet), and our congressperson also contacted USCIS last week.

Yesterday morning, the page updated itself with the same set of updates: request assigned to an officer for response; sent a response to have your case expedited; case was completed. Any idea what this means?

2019-03-19: AOS concurrent filing (I-130, I-485, I-765, I-131) sent; AOS from F-1 Visa

2019-03-21: AOS package received

2019-04-05: Received biometrics notice

2019-04-08: Walk-in biometrics completed

2019-04-10: Received email that case is ready to be scheduled for an interview

2019-04-16: Received email that interview was scheduled

2019-05-28: Green card approved at end of interview; email that case was approved received shortly after!

2021-03-06: I-751 package sent (delivered 03-09)

2021-04-02: $680 personal check fee cashed

2021-04-06: I-797 NOA (18-month extension letter) received, dated 04-01

Called USCIS earlier - the tier 1 agent said that the status update indicates that the team handling our EAD expedite case has received the documents and will render a decision shoot. Knock on wood! Will ask Congress to follow-up if nothing after a week or so.

Successful Expedited EAD and AP 2019 - Detailed Timeline

I just wanted to give a huge thanks to the VisaJourney community and everyone who has ever shared their timelines and experiences. Because we saw one post here about successfully expediting the travel document due to wedding outside the US and that was one of the reasons why we tried it because we had nothing to lose.

Below are my detailed timeline and process (which took 46 DAYS from the time we requested the expedite by calling USCIS until card in hand) notes in case anyone is/will be in the same boat as I was.

Timeline:

  • 12/5: Submitted I-485, I-765 and I-131 applications
  • 12/7: Received NOA1 in mail, application being processed by National Benefits Center
  • 12/31: Biometrics appointment completed
  • 03/23: Called USCIS and submitted service request to expedite I-131 on the basis of Severe Financial Loss (We didn´t know exactly how to define the expediting reason, because everywhere on the Internet there are posts and infromation that the wedding isn´t a reason for the expedition, but we chose this, because the wedding is also a big waste of money (and this will be OUR wedding, for our families) If it doesn´t take place, but we didn't focus on the money at all in our COVER LETTER!!!!!!!!!(this is very important I guess), we also didn´t use the word WEDDING in the cover letter.)
  • 03/25: Email response from USCIS asking for supporting documents for request to expedite: "Upon receipt of your request for expeditious processing, your case was reviewed and a determination was made that we need additional information to make a decision regarding your request. Please fax proof of a pending job offer to ###-###-####, Attn:  AA####, Div #, Team #."
  • 04/02: Faxed over supporting documents to USCIS fax number provided in email response
    1. Cover Letter;
    2. USCIS Email Response Above (they request you include in your fax);
    3. Other documents why we needed to have my case expedited such as my airline ticket to Europe, rental contracts for wedding venue, invoices from contractors for the wedding, everything was officially translated (which was required and mandatory)
  • 4/10: Got notification, that my case for I-485 is Ready to Be Scheduled for An Interview.
  • 4/12: Email response from USCIS: "We received your request to expedite the decision on your application. Your case is currently under review. You will receive a decision or notice of further action shortly. My case status online changed:
    1. On April 12, 2019, your request to have your case expedited, referral number XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX, was completed.
    2. On April 12, 2019, we sent a response to your request to have your case expedited, referral number XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX.
    3. On April 12, 2019, your request to have your case expedited, referral number XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX, was assigned to an officer for response.
  • 04/30/2019: Case status online changed to "Card in Production"!
  • 05/03/2019: Case status online changed to "Card was mailed to me"
  • 05/08/2019: AP card in hand!

I believe a good cover letter can really make a difference and “No legacy is so rich as honesty.” Because We didn´t focuse on MONEY in the cover letter, my husband (american citizen) comes from Slovakia, so it could also help, because he still has family in Slovakia. We focused on what it means for us If We don´t get my travel permit soon, our disappointment, emotional loss etc.. We tried to make the USCIS officers emphatize with our difficult situation. I think It can really help. They are just people, and it really depends WHO IS GOING TO READ THE COVER LETTER and who is going to hold it in their hands and decide, that´s what We think. Also, we didn't have a lawyer or a congressman to help us.

GOOD LUCK EVERYBODY! :)

Thank you very much, I can't advise , there are other experts and they are competent to do so but I can imagine the frustrating waiting that I had to go through and I was mainly helped by people here and therefore I also share, thank you!

Time will solve everything, when people try it and it doesn't work for them - nothing happens, but if they try and it works, it can happen a lot.

This process will be soon over for all of  us. (L)

How long did it typically take everyone to hear back about an expedite request? It's been 22 days and we haven't had any updates - not even that they received the evidence requested (although I know sometimes this update never happens). Whenever we call they have no information to provide. They won't even confirm that the fax arrived (I did get a fax confirmation).

Do most people hear back, even if it's a denial?

Hi everyone,
I have followed this thread for a while as I plan to use a job offer to expedite my application for the EAD card. For those that have done the same, what information did you share with your employer that made them willing to wait for you? Was the job offer enough for your case? Would love to hear from all of you while I go back and read all 70 pages of this thread, haha.

Check out my timeline in my signature.

We faxed the evidence shortly after putting in a request, but didn't hear anything. We faxed the evidence a second time a few weeks later, but that occurred in conjunction with our Congressperson reaching out to USCIS. Pretty shortly afterwards, our case updated online, and a few days later the card was in production. The process was very black-boxy for us, so I get your frustration. I would definitely recommend reaching out to your Representative or Senators so they can send stuff on your behalf (you'll need to send a privacy release form to them before they handle your case).

Hey everyone,

I know similar questions come up often, but I can't help myself but ask.

April 30 -  I was requested proofs for expedite

May 1 - faxed the evidence and received  email "We received your documents in support of your request to expedite the decision on your application. Your case is currently under review. You will receive a decision or notice of further action shortly."

Online status says this:

Screen Shot 2019-05-10 at 9.39.38 AM.png

And there was no reply since then. Should I just wait more, or can I call USCIS since it says inquiry was completed? Does that mean there is a verdict and they're just slow or is it a standard notification?

That's the standard notification I received indicating that the evidence was received and a decision would be made shortly, so I don't think there's any reason to call. My decision (positive) came a few days later.

That's the thing, it seems like everyone's decision comes a couple days after. It's been 9 days and I'm getting nervous what and when to expect it. I guess I'm just overthinking it.
