I actually asked to get it expedited early on but they said I have to wait at least 6 months bc it’s considered within the normal waiting period. So trust me I am going crazy haha.

What are the qualifications? Where can I get all that information from? So what is also considered a financial loss to them? My husband works full time but I’m currently just living off my savings plus my husband helping out but I’m losing a lot and need to get back to working so what exactly do I need to show them?

thanks :)

This is the criteria that the congressman gave to me. https://www.uscis.gov/forms/expedite-criteria

My qualification is that I am currently working so if I don't get the EAD on-time, I will lose my current employment which is financial loss. I also have the letter from my company showing that without me being able to work, it will create a burden for them and financial loss for them as well because they have to find new people, train them, etc. The letter from the company works pretty well because when I visited local USCIS, that's all they asked for.

Since you aren't working that is enough for Financial loss, and if you can secure a job offer than you can expedite your case for sure. Without Job Offer in hand it might be a tough nut to crack.

Okay, and what exactly do I need to show them to prove my financial loss?

Also, I was working on my OPT Student Visa up until June and then my previous EAD expired. My supervisor told me that he is helping to save my spot until I get my new EAD in. Can I ask my supervisor to type up something for me? would that be sufficient for them?

thanks!

Just curious, but by going with your username are you residing in TX?

I was working up until this June and my previous EAD expired. My supervisor is helping with saving my position. Can I ask him to help write the letter or would it have to be someone from the top?

thanks!

I guess you can get a letter from your previous employer stating that you lost job in June because of expired EAD and they can reinstate you once you get your new EAD approved. Try if you can get a new offer letter from them. That should be enough to expedite your EAD request

I did exactly the same. My H1 extension was denied and so, my company sent a letter putting me on Loss Of Pay and asking me to produce a work authorization to reinstate my payroll. I just used this letter and my case was approved in expidited manner

okay, also how do you get in contract with a congressman? where do you find their email address or phone number?

Just explain the situation and ask for assistance?

You need to try the normal way first. Call the USCIS, talk to an officer about your case. Tell them you need to get the EAD expedited due to "severe financial loss". They will open a case for you.

okay, and how long should I wait after the normal route to do it through USCIS, then reach out to the congressman for additional help?

How do I know, some people got lucky enough to have it expedited on the first try, some weren't as lucky. You'll never know.

You have a good case so I think it shouldn't be a problem for you. Ask your employer for the letter as well.

Placed an EAD expedite request via phone earlier in the week and they gave us a case number. However we never got an email explaining where or how to send supporting documentation. how long should we wait before contacting them about this?
