For those who Expedidted I am just curious, did you apply foget a job and then say to your employer oh I need a job letter for a work permit ? Just curious as to how one gets a job offer with no work permit on hand.

I know you're asking a slightly different demographic, but if it helps -

I applied for jobs in US without any sort of work authorization. Companies whose applications specifically asked if you already have authorization I weeded out, because I didn't want to lie but saying no realistically meant an automatic rejection.

The company I ended up working for didn't have that as a pre-screening application question. I've interviewed with a few companies like this, and followed the strategy of:

First, make a good impression on the first interview. At the end of the interview, mention that I needed to apply for work authorization if I were a successful applicant, and clarify immediately that I'm not seeking sponsorship. All companies, with the exception of one, said that they're fine with it. They usually ask what that means for them; you explain that you don't need sponsorship or to go through the H1B lottery (which is their concern), but rather, you will need an offer of employment from them and then use that letter to gain authorization, and that you don't expect to have any issues with that process.

Obviously, if you do run into issues, here you all are. But from the perspective of the employer, if they're interested in hiring you, and they know they don't have to do anything other than supply a letter, they're not in the position to lose much. Worst case, they don't hire you, which is the same as you not accepting an offer letter for any other reason.

So my future boss wrote me a letter to support my request to expedite the EAD card. Called USCIS this morning and asked the agent to submit a request to expedite my EAD application. I was given a request number (T1********* MSC).

On another note, how do you check  progress on the EAD expedite request ? Do you use the old I-765 receipt number or the new request number given over phone ?

Hey @DBR I went through your timeline and I noticed that your pd was somewhere around 6th of June 2018 . What intrigues me is that you were just about 12 days into the process before you expedited your ead . Can you share your timeline for your expedite process?

My expedite request is showing up on the USCIS site (egov.uscis.gov) under I-765 status (but apparently it doesn't count as an update, since it "last updated" back in July).  On my.uscis.gov, I see nothing at all, just that the application was received and I have nothing to do about it.

I'm a little jealous that your case is ready to be scheduled for interview.  I feel like mine isn't moving at all.  I'm envisioning the officer looking at it, deciding it's too complicated, and putting it away or something.  Ah well.  Good luck on the expedite!

Use your receipt number in the old case tracker (egov). The number they gave you will appear below.

How did you submit the evidence? Did you mail it all in?

I called USCIS a day after you and opened an expedite request, and I'm still waiting on the letter asking for more evidence.

I faxed the evidence over to them... here is the timeline you asked for.

08/27/2018 - I called USCIS to expedite the EAD and spoke to the T1

08/29/2018 - I got an email from USCIS asking me to submit additional evidence via fax

08/30/2018 - I sent them the fax and it went through with no issues

04/09/2018 - I got acknowledgement they received my submitted evidence via fax and were reviewing the case

I haven't received any letters from USCIS about expediting the EAD everything has been through emails so far.

@4rmGhanaliveinATL in case you're still wondering

Thanks! The USCIS lady told me to expect an email, but alas - I got a letter instead, and it's still in the mail. Lame!

@eckoin in a similar development, I also spoke with a L1 officer who told me that some officers prefer to send emails while others prefer to send mails. SHe said my officer did send me a letter on the 4th of September. She read me the content of the letter and also provided the ATTN XYZ digit, but I still have to wait for the mail.

I plan on posting the evidence via mail and try faxing them later

An update on my EAD card expedite request. Just got an email from USCIS asking for supporting documents. Still does not show anything on the USCIS site (egov.uscis.gov/casestatus/mycasestatus.do) though. I will be sending (1) the job offer letter, (2) letter from future boss and (3) a letter from me stating why this is a once in a lifetime opportunity to USCIS by fax tomorrow.

"Upon receipt of your request for expeditious handling, your case was reviewed and a determination was made that we need additional information to make a decision regarding your request.  Please fax proof of your financial loss, such as proof of a pending job offer, to the following number:  816-***-****, Attn:*********. Please include this notice with your fax. Documents should be submitted with an official letterhead.
