I am currently awaiting my NOA2 (I applied in mid-November 2017). In order to keep me pre-occupied whilst waiting, I figured I'd get started on the required documents post-NOA2.

I need to complete the I-134 as I am applying for the K-1 Fiance Visa. However, both my partner and I currently live in the United Kingdom. I have lived abroad with him for the past 4 years, so am concerned about having my I-134 accepted (US bank account does not have steady income, no US job secured, etc.). I have heard a co-sponsor is a good option for those living abroad.

Do I need to complete form I-134 and have my co-sponsor compete one also?

If anyone has any experience / advice for me in relation to completing and filing form I-134 with a co-sponsor, that would be very helpful!

Since you're getting married anyway and both live in the UK why not just get married and file directly? It's one of the few countries that allow that possibility most people would kill for.

Just get married and file directly and visa in 3-4 months. You can have a "proper" wedding later. No adjusting status, no fiance waiting for 4-6 months to get a job, and if you did it soon you'd prob have your visa before your NOA2

@EandH0904 Are you referring to applying for I-130 as opposed to I-129F? To be honest, I did not even know there was an option that would allow for my partner to work immediately in the US! I'm just not sure what you mean by "file directly" - can you please elaborate? Thanks :)

UK is one of the few countries that allow you to get married and file an i-130 with their consulate instead of the US, making the "wait" minimal and give you the CR1 advantages (working from day 1, less fees).

Here's a guide: http://www.visajourney.com/content/dcf

There is also a forum specifically for direct filing, called DCF,  if you have questions about the process. You would be out the money you filed for the 129F, but save all the money to adjust status.

You need to prove domicile in the US but if there's friend or family willing to let you stay there, I believe you can do it that way.  (Members here will correct if I'm wrong)

You can live with relatives or friends but what will be done to prove income/support?  Have a cosponsor?

Thank you all so much. This is truly the best advice I have received and helps so much! I feel like a bit of a fool for being ignorant to DCF, but glad you guys were able to help.

I will look in the DCF forums to see about sponsors on the Affidavit of Support, as I will certainly need one.

Thanks again!
