The longest wait for us was the Unabridged BC and Police Clearance...  The next wait is scheduling the interview, they seem to get taken up quickly..

Did you make it safely @vistawateraz

Hi guys,

i gave my medical in Sandton on Friday and was just wondering if anyone who has done theirs had to have any extra vaccinations and how much they were? Obviously the medical appointment itself is quite expensive and I’m just curious if I need any additional vaccinations what it’ll set me back haha. Thanks!!

Were you allowed to go to the interview without a police clearance? how do you arrange that, i'm waiting for my birth certificate as we speak

Depending on how long you have been waiting for your BC, I would recommend a company like passports4u, if it's economically feasible for you.  My fiancee assumed the Unabridged BC would be as easy to get as the abridged, which obviously isn't the case.  We submitted the paperwork last Wednesday, hired passports4u to expedite on Thursday, and received notification today that it is ready for pickup.  Mind you this was over the holiday weekend too.

Thanks! I applied 2 weeks ago, and I have already reached out to them, got pricing and everything, I will definitely look into it this week.

Obviously if you have time before the interview I wouldn't necessarily expedite it, our interview date is next Thursday (5/2) so we were in a bit of a time crunch.  If you can wait the 8 weeks and see if Home Affairs actually produces something I would recommend that route to save the money.

I agree! 100 times more expensive than the application, I am still awaiting my NOA2 so i still have some time, @mrgeorge88 How long did you wait for your visa appointment at the consulate?

We got NOA2 at the beginning of January.  By the time we got our case number from NVC and got the DS160 done (end of January), there were a few available appointments for April 25th, but those got snatched up quickly, so we had to wait for them to release appointment dates in May.  It seems like the consulate in Johannesburg is extremely slow with appointments and for the most part they seem to average about 3 months.
