Yes it is safe and reliable because when he is approved they will keep his passport and tell him to supply to police clearance later... The only thing I am not sure about is how he would give the embassy the clearance and he lives in CT.... You might want to look further into that but I know there is someone in this forum that supplied the clearance later unfortunately I Cant remember there name. You can also email the embassy  they are pretty good with responding.

Yeah, if he has to do that he'd have to fly back to Joburg and give them the clearance. Which is a bit of a pain but not the end of the world. I will go ahead and look back through this forum and see if I can find there person who had to do it as well. Thank you!! I was beyond stressed and worried but you've helped a lot!

Congratulations!  I'm so happy for the two of you.  We are going for our interview this month and hope to be joining you in celebration very soon.  I was shocked it took so long for your visa to be returned, and certainly appreciate the warning about expecting a quick turnaround.  Have you set a wedding date and made plans?  Are you going to have a celebration back in South Africa for her family and friends?

We've begun to talk about the wedding,  but no solid date or exact plans yet. As far as a celebration in SA, I went over there this past summer and did something like that with her family already :)

Hi everyone!

My fiance just got the letter from NVC with our case number, and our status online is Ready.

Do I need to wait for the SA consulate to email me, or can I go ahead and book the interview date online already?

Book your date now. You can send them an email requesting packet 3. I did it the same way

So my fiance went to his interview on the 7th and was.... Approved! How long does it usually take to get everything back so he can finally get here?

Recently it has been taking two to three weeks if it doesn’t go into administrative processing.  They say 7-10 business days, but that’s what I’ve been seeing.  Good luck and let us know when he gets them!  You are almost there!

Please keep us updated on your status on CEAC website and how long it takes to go to “issued” and how long it takes to actually receive the passport back.

I just got our timeline updated but we got our "Ready" status on March 5 and was able to book an interview date for April 25.  We are very relieved to finally have a little more of a concrete timeline.  Shaun applied for his unabridged birth certificate, South African police clearance and his Korean police clearance a few weeks ago.  His Korean pc is ready to be picked up and we paid to have his unabridged bc expedited so everything should be ready in time.  Now we are just finishing up the items requested in Packet 3 and waiting!
