Hi! Can anyone tell me whether you have to pay Dr Hoosen in cash or do they take cards?

From what I remember you can only pay cash if you go make a deposit at the bank. I could be wrong. However, you can definitely pay by card.

When I get a tracking # I'll post it on here. I was really hoping to get something today, but it doesn't look like we did. My fiance still hasn't received an email / SMS  and now with Monday being a holiday for the consulate, I'm afraid we wont get the visa until late next week.  Almost there!!

Are you sure it is a holiday at consulate tomorrow (Monday)? What is the holiday?

Hi All!

Thank you all for welcoming me :)

My fiance received our NOA2 in the mail on Saturday!! Its been only 4 and a half months since we received NOA1 end of September last year. So NOA2 came MUCH sooner than expected! We are so thankful.

How long is the wait more or less to get an interview at the US embassy in Joburg these days?

@RenCAwesome news guys - and snap - we received our NOA2 in the mail on Saturday 16th as well! Very similar timeline to you guys too (slightly longer) - our NOA1 was 5 September '18. From other timelines, my best guess is you'd receive the couriered packet at Jhb embassy from NVC around end of March - and only then can an interview & medical be scheduled (as far as I can tell - still researching...). Best of luck and keep in touch!! 🙏:)

For us, from NOA2 to consulate received was 1 and a half month. Then there’s still a backlog on appointments, ours is 2 and a half months from the day we made it. So the longest wait is over! But there’s still a ways to go!

Can someone please explain what happens after NOA2 for K1?

Is packet 3 what is emailed to you, and you mail back documents, and then they send you packet 4 in mail (list of interview docs to bring)?

NEVERMIND. It just got "issued" !!!! Praise God!

Congratulations!! I honestly don't know what happens after this step, or how long it takes before we get the visas. I've been at "issue" since Thursday and no updates today. Still no tracking number. Maybe tomorrow will be kind to us all!!

1) Call NVC in ~2weeks time to see if they received your case. Keep calling over the few weeks after until you can get your embassy case#.

2) Once you have the embassy case # you can check on their website (https://ceac.state.gov/ceacstattracker/status.aspx) to see when it's received and processed by the South African embassy (status will read "ready")

3) Email / Call the S.A. Embassy to have them email your fiance packet 3 (this way you don't have to wait for them to reach out to them)

4) After receiving packet 3, it will have info about where to get the medical exam and how to schedule the interview

5) Complete medical exam (they will send the docs to the embassy)

6) Fiance passes the official interview.

7) Fiance gets the visa and comes to America

11/13/2018 - NVC Case number received

11/27/2018 - Case sent to embassy

11/30/2018 - Case arrived at embassy (NVC says "Ready")

01/17/2019 - Medical exam completed

We should get an email with the tracking number. I feel like I have been through the wringer trying to find out how to deal with our situation. I called DHL today and they said the would even call when they received it.

I gave up calling the Embassy trying to find out what we should do and called DHL. I was then transferred to a DHL that seemed like head office and spoke with a specific person. He was trying to locate where our process might be and I believe he called directly to the Embassy as he returned to the phone (I could hear the entire time; even rattled off our case number when I only gave him a passport number) and said that it was still at the Embassy and maybe it would be sent out tomorrow or Thursday.

We have already pushed our flights back to next week, but this still doesn't help my fiancé possibly overstaying his SA visa which expires at the end of this week.  We have called and emailed multiple times and are getting no where fast.
