Hello all!

We're still waiting for the PCC which we will hopefully have soon it's be 11 almost 12 weeks so we're getting a little impatient.

I need to send my fiance all the paperwork that needs to be signed by me. I went to the post place near me and to send about 25-30 pages of paper would have cost me $150 to send DHL. Is that a normal amount?

Thank you!

Do you plan on joining him for the interview? If so you can just bring it then. However, in regards to your question I unfortunately can't help because I just asked someone that is coming to bring it with them. So we didn't pay a courier service.

Hi everyone! I guess I should read through these pages and hang out here! My fiance is a resident of South Africa although he has citizenship in Nigeria. Congrats to those of you who have gone through the process and have been successful. I filed the I-129F last month so it's just a waiting thing for now. Wish us luck!!

Oh What a JOYY! BIG Congratulations and you are very blessed that holiday season is over so your process might move a lot faster than some of us who got approved just before holiday season.

Congratulations Angel, the worst is now over. ❤️❤️🙏🏽

Many thanks! Yes indeed we're hoping for super-speedy next steps 😃🌍

5 months is good timing! So happy for you both. It's a huge step in the process. May the NVC move quickly and the consulate even faster 😁

Thank-you! Such a relief, and now we're hopeful for the next steps to be quick! 🙏😃

Applying for a birth certificate - useful info:

Fellow Saffa's applying for a birth certificate (Pretoria) - I can highly recommend the Home Affairs office in town (Sophie de Bruyn street), found a very useful Google review that helped me out. The queues are crazy, but once I was directed to skip the queues and head upstairs for birth certificate applications, there were perhaps 10-15 people in line in front of me - and I was in and out in less than 1.5 hours. Told that the certificate should take maximum of 8 weeks. Be prepared for people cutting the queue, a bit of organised chaos and such - but from what I understand still a far smoother process than for example Centurion or other Pretoria area branches.

Will you please let me know when it sends you a tracking number?

I called again about our situation yesterday..about being stuck in South Africa. I had one person hang up on me because they would make a suggestion and I would tell them I've already done that (email, call, just wait it out, go to this website, go to that website). I was being a bit aggressive, but not rude as I wanted them to stop giving me the run around. I wanted to say it was running out of phone credit, but I used google voice and we have a strong wireless signal here so I think its valid to say they hung up on me.

Anyways, I still have not received a reply to my email, but I finally did get an "answer" on the phone. I say "answer" because it seems to just complicate the process. We can request our passport back, go to Mozambique, renew his SA visa, come back, and send the passport back to the American Embassy to finish their process. I understand that it is what it is, but that's ridiculous. I think we are going to take our chances that we will just cut it close and not overstay his visa.

When I get a tracking # I'll post it on here. I was really hoping to get something today, but it doesn't look like we did. My fiance still hasn't received an email / SMS  and now with Monday being a holiday for the consulate, I'm afraid we wont get the visa until late next week.  Almost there!!

Our's finally switched over to "issued" too. So, we are in the same boat. I'm relieved it finally switched over, but we still need the passport. We fly out Thursday early afternoon from Moz, so I'm hoping we don't run into a problem.

fingers crossed for you guys - seems like a good week for our group...... they FINALLY accepted all of our documents.  Our case has been marked "Documentation Qualified," now we just wait for our interview - which will be frustrating, as I understand it we dont get to log in and pick like you K1's we have to wait for the embassy and NVC to pick a date, which they then tell us when to come.

But at least the guessing game with NVC is finally OVER!!!
