We're trying to get our library (aka packet) of info that we need to bring to the interview. Can someone tell me if we need copies of every single document? We have multiple passport photos and copies of original documents. Do I need to make copies of the AOS and my 2017 Tax Return? I have digital originals/copies. Just want to check before we keep dishing out money to print stuff we may not actually need.

Ill post what i did, hopefully it helps you :)

2) Once I have my embassy case # I can check on their website (https://ceac.state.gov/ceacstattracker/status.aspx) to see when it's received and processed by the South African embassy (status will read "ready")

3) Email / Call the S.A. Embassy to have them email my fiance packet 3 (this way we don't have to wait for them to reach out to her)

4) After receiving packet 3, it will have info about where to get the medical exam and how to schedule her interview

5) Complete medical exam (they will send the docs to the embassy) and schedule her interview.

6) She passes the official interview.

7) She gets the visa and comes to America!

Sounds like youre at the "In Transit" phase, which means they should receive it in a few days. Once it reads "ready" on that tracker website, proceed forward. At least thats what I did.

Have you sent an email to the South African US embassy for help perhaps? They are very efficient, and perhaps they'll give you a date... May this limbo end very very speedily for you. 🙏🏽🌺

I have my medical in exactly 17 days from today.. It's really starting to hit me, we've reached the end of this long process... So so so close...

The pain of living oceans away from your loved one is truly striking and unbearable, but somehow we survived... I wouldn't trade this experience for anything.

I wish you guys all well through whatever stage you're in. Keep your heads up and know that the universe will always align itself for your greater purpose regardless of the obstacles that may arise.. 🌺

Wait so you have to wait for a date? My case said ready yesterday so I just picked a date to secure a spot. I didn’t even wait for packet 3. Did I do something wrong. I just assumed I would have it before my medical and interview. Also please tell me how to book a medical

No you book the medical date once you have an interview date.. Packet 3 contains all the booking information, as well as the medical information relevant to you... Don't panic, you should be getting your packet 3 quite soon because it doesn't generally take longer than a week to receive after case status says "ready".. If you don't get the packet 3 email by the end of the week just send the embassy an email of enquiry.

Also, I see that this process seems to still be very confusing to you? I recommend you just read a little more on some K1 visa general steps on the Internet: YouTube, Google as well as this very site, Visa Journey, and the US government website on immigration Travelstate.gov Just so you're generally familiar with the steps.. This will help you with preparation and just general confidence in the process. At this stage of your K1 visa it is critical to atleast know the basics of the K1 steps.

Peace be with you. 🌺

Okay my final question I talked to my fiancé and she is going to fly in to help me. But in my I129f I put my adoptive mother under my family information as well as my ds160. When I go to the interview i plan to bring my birth certificate that has my real mother’s name and my adoption paperwork. Does anyone think it would be a problem? I also wrote down my nickname on my I129f because my fiancé calls me by it in our messages and on social media but on my ds160 it asked about professional alias. And I said no. I’m not sure if this will cause any issue
