I read the medical appointment instructions and it states that immunization records are one of the  things required when attending the medical examination....

I'm guessing immunization records from when we were born ? I asked my parents if they know where those documents are and they said they aren't sure..

What happens if I can't find the immunization records? Will the doctor just re-inject and will I be allowed to continue the medical assessment? Thanx and hope you guys are well. 🌼

If you don't have records they will re-inject. However, some of the immunizations on the list you'll likely have aged out of, so it won't be the complete list. You will be able to continue the medical assessment. Immunizations are recorded and provided as an option at the medical appt., but are not required until a later point (when you are in the States). The only downside of waiting and getting them in the U.S. is that it can be more expensive and you have to find a physician that is licensed/qualified/can't remember the technical term.

Brilliant answer, very informative. Thank you. 🙏🌼

My fiancé doesn't have his immunization record. We are trying to work on that right now. In my opinion, I would suggest that if it looks like you aren't going to be able to find the records that you try to start ahead of time. Because the longer you wait, the more expensive it gets. I'm not sure how it is in SA, but in Mozambique you can get a tetanus injection for free at the public hospital. So, we are working on that while trying to look at a few others and what our options are. He is also going back to visit his family and look into getting his records from the hospital he was born.

It seems like a bit of work, but any money we can save in this process we are trying!

Yikes. 😵... All that work ! 😂... .. well, I read somewhere that the immunizations will be included in the medical fee anyway? And that getting immunizations on your own is not too reliable because the authorised physician may say "that's not good enough, we'll still have to inject you ourselves"

Hmm...from my understanding they are an extra fee. That's the only reason we are doing this. I'm going to double check...and wait for someone else to chime in.

For us it really isn't too much work. It was a five minute process for the injection and him going to find his record when he goes to visit his family not only helps having his injection records but other information we are wanting as well.

Alright, fair enough. I do plan on calling the physicians office to get ALL fee information should I get the immunizations with them if I don't have any records at all. And if the cheaper option is taking it from my own doctor, I will take that option too.

(Parents still looking for immunization records at the moment)

From Dr. Hoosen's Office on 2/2/18

Please be advised that your appointment is scheduled for 2 days in which the 1st day and the 4th day -- on a Monday and a Thursday or a Friday and a Monday, that paperwork is the first day and MEDICAL is on the fourth day.  The necessary vaccines will be given according to Dr. Hoosen which may be one or two vaccines.  You can come with her for translation - nothing much to translate.

the general forms and prices are attached here as a PDF for your information

    - She is only 16 though so the process may also be different than for an adult

REQUIREMENT-PRICE CHANGE FOR JANUARY 2018.pdf

@madameMaison if you look at this attachment it is from the doctor's office in Sandton with a price breakdown. You can ask if these are current.

Very very eye opening. I under estimated, they charge Per VACCINE. ... If I were to get all of them PLUS standard medical exam fee it would be around ZAR 9000 +/-  ... Hefty indeed...

You're an Angel. Thank you for making me aware of this.

UPDATE: my parents found the vaccine card I had from birth listing all the vaccines.

Twist : in my ds-160 I filled in that I won't be able to provide the vaccine card ,reason : my parents may not know where it is placed.

Should I just fill in a whole other DS-160 form stating that I will be able to provide my vaccine records?

Okay , found the answer on Google. . It applies to the DS-260 however , same question .. it reads :

One of the questions on DS-260 seems innocent enough, but can be tricky for immigrant visa applicants. It asks: "Do you have documentation to establish that you have received vaccinations in accordance with U.S. law?"

"

How Should I Answer the DS-260 Question About Vaccinations?

The simple answer, if you have received the required vaccinations and have documentation proving this, to say, "Yes" and move on with the other questions on the DS-260.

However, if you are still in the process of gathering that information and are unsure whether you have this proof yet, or still need to make an appointment to receive these vaccines, the best practice is to answer "No."

You will be given the opportunity to explain in the next comment box. Here you should write: "The applicant is in the process of reviewing vaccination records and will obtain the required vaccinations on or before the date of the medical exam."

This gives you time to determine whether or not you need to get vaccines, after submitting your DS-260 to the NVC in a timely fashion."

Congratulations!

I recommend you join this thread and follow along.  You could also read through the November one as well if you have loads of time.  Those threads will answer your questions best to avoid redundancy.  Most folks here have already had their case numbers issued an/or their files are at the embassy and they are waiting for an interview.

This is an exciting step for you, but there's still some waiting.  My case is still at the NVC and I got my NOA2 10/17.  But the longest wait is over at least.   Good luck!
