Hmm...🤔... Well I'm hoping by Tues - Thurs we both get our Case Numbers so we can firmly be in that End Of the Month shipment. 🙈 . I REALLY want to be with my fiancé by before /on Christmas.

I'm not trying to be a downer. However, I think any of us that haven't scheduled interviews yet (me included) aren't going to make it to the States by Christmas. Even with my case arriving at the Embassy early next week, I don't have high hopes of getting the medical and interview finished before Christmas. Simply because interviews are hard to come by around the holidays. SA embassy processes K1 cases for multiple countries so that also doesn't help.

Just trying to be a realist. I would love for the process to prove me wrong though.

I-129F Sent: April 12, 2018

NVC Case Number Assigned: November 2, 2018

Fair enough... Your realistic approach to this will cause less heartbreak.. . I guess you're right. .  . I'll just adjust my mentality to various possibilities.🌼

I am the US Citizen, but I lived in South Africa for many many years. So I know about adjusting.

My husband is in the USA with me.

Everything is very different, but still the same! My husband had some cultural shock, and I think he still does.

We get together with South Africans in our area for a lekker braai about once a month. Check FB for some South African in the USA groups.

Try to settle into a routine. If you are looking for a job wake up and spend X amount of hours looking for a job. Try to spend time exploring your new area.

And, you just arrived in the USA don't worry everything is still new and overwhelming!

Hey dear,

I'm a South African citizen also. Met my husband in Jan this year, We just recently got married and living in Ohio. I was a bit disappointed with the foods since our brands totally differ from theirs. I immediately missed my rooibos tea. Lol. And they not familiar with using a kettle when making tea. Instead they use either small pots and place them on a stove or stove kettles that whistle when they boil. lol.

Anyways, Its pretty fun because I'm finally living with the love of my life. We submitted our documents through our immigration attorneys two weeks ago. and awaiting biometrics forms and interview. When we first met it was all rosy lol. I have never been married before in my life. And we tend to have challenges and fight at times. Its hard yes. But we love each other. I'm an IT Consultant and being at home is killing me. However, I do some part time work for my clients back at home, they don't pay much but I'm getting something at least. You'll love it here. Yes the people are extremely different, some are friendly, some are weird, just like back at home. I've learnt that people differ no matter where in the world you've been.

All the best with everything dear. Hope all works out for you.

I just saw someone updated their timeline with an interview on Jan. 17. That had the same NVC departure date as me. Not sure how he managed to book an interview so quickly. However, that should give us an idea about how far interviews are booked out. I really want to schedule our interview.

Do you mind messaging him and Asking him how that happened to be able to book in Advance? Do you call the embassy for booking information?  Do they send you a document or an email or do we just wait after having a case number and after it gets sent to embassy?

And it is true that you MUST book a medical in advance before interview right? How come other countries are able to book a medical appointment as soon as they get a case number and South Africa can't?

How will I get all the medical appointment and interview knowledge after shipment has arrived at Embassy? *Little confused myself. 😊

I did message him. I'll let you know if he responds. I've called the embassy and they weren't able to help me much. I called the U.S. number they provided, but I might try to call the SA number this afternoon. He told me right now there are no available K visa appointments until they release more dates. So I'm not sure how this person got their appointment.
