Hi all,

Sorry been busy with wedding planning so wasnt able to update much.

NOA1- approved around sept 1.

case number assigned sept 14. this is when NVC actually started working on my case. ( takes a week to receive from USIC and couple days to sort through all the cases).

I called them couple times to see if they assigned my case and each time they were very friendly.

I also called them couple time after my case was assigned to see if they approve. It wasnt until one day on my way back from work i checked my email that I saw the email from NVC. They sent an email with a word document attached saying NVC sent the documents to US embassy in the foreign country (Lusaka in my case). Contacted my fiance and told her to contact US embassy to see if they received.

NOA2- approved OCT 2.

My fiance contacted the us embassy in Lusaka many times and each time they were friendly as well according to her.

first time she called was after the day we received the email from NVC. They told her that we have received electronic copy and wait until we received the hard copy to schedule interview. Until than fill out the DS160 form and wait for the package to come in the mail.

We were a bit nervous when this package and if this package of instructions will ever come to her address because of the area she lives in. So she contacted them back and ask them to email the instructions and they were able to. So she went ahead and got everything together and filled out the DS160, schedule her medical and her interview as well.

The medical exam was on Wed October 10 and they after the exam they told her to come back on Monday October 12 so the doctor can review the lab results. They also told her that it will take at least 5 business days for her to get the results in her hand. This is when we kind of panic because her visa interview date was on Tuesday OCT 16 or Wed OCT 17 it was one of those two days. But we were not sure if we would get the hospital result in time for the interview. So my fiance contacted the US embassy and explained the situation. They told her not to worry and she can either reschedule the interview or give the medical exam whenever she receives it. They also mention that they require all the documents to be submitted at the Embassy a week prior to the interview date and since we didnt know they told her to submit it the next day (I believe not all US embassy require this so its important to confirm this with the embassy) . So she did submit all the documents the next day at the embassy and we decided to stay with the interview date as scheduled and submit the medical when she receives them. We were not sure when will the next available interview date would be. So the monday OCT 12 came where she had to go back to see the doctor and good news was all her exam was normal and they were able to give the medical result that dayyyy. The next day she went for her interview and at the interview she first had to make the payment at a window and than they called her for her interview. They ask where we met, if we ever been married, where i work, how have we been talking with eachother... After 30 min next thing I know I got a message from her saying she has beeen APPROVEDDDD. Was a long journey but not over yet... She will be coming here on Dec 5 and the wedding is on Dec 15.

Advice:

Couple of advice i can give base on what we been through. First is to do the medical as soon as possible, so either when US embassy get the electronic copy or when NVC sends it over to US embassy schedule the Medical. Before you schedule medical contact the hospital and ask them what you will need to bring. That way you have enough time to receive all the medical result before the interview. Second, make sure the petitioner sends all the required documents (I-129F affidavit of support along with all the other document and any proofs such as text messages and phone call logs) before you schedule the interview. Have them mail it out asap so you have enough time to get all the documents together, it is important you know what all the documents are.  You need to know what documents you are giving to them.

Hope this help and good luck to everyoneeee.

Finally got approved about a week ago, I've been trying my best to read up on what comes next for the NVC and SA Embassy and just want to make sure I'm understanding the process right...

1) Call NVC in ~2weeks time to see if they received my case. Keep calling over the few weeks after until I can get my embassy case#.

2) Once I have my embassy case # I can check on their website (https://ceac.state.gov/ceacstattracker/status.aspx) to see when it's received and processed by the South African embassy (status will read "ready")

3) Email / Call the S.A. Embassy to have them email my fiance packet 3 (this way we don't have to wait for them to reach out to her)

4) After receiving packet 3, it will have info about where to get the medical exam and how to schedule her interview

5) Complete medical exam (they will send the docs to the embassy) and schedule her interview.

6) She passes the official interview.

7) She gets the visa and comes to America!

Am i understanding this whole thing right? Is there anything missed to get this done faster? (like scheduling the medical exam right after receiving the embassy case #??)

Also my understanding is there's only 2 doctors that are approved to do the medical exam? (Dr. Junaid Hoosen / Dr. Marcus Brauer) Is that correct?

I already know about the affidavit of support and the additional docs she'll need to take to the interview, at this point I'm a little more concerned about just getting her to the interview!

Thanks in advance!! 😁

All of that is correct

It wants your NVC Case number and your DS160 application ID. However, we aren't able to book an appointment until our case arrives in JHB.
