Hey just wanted to pop in and say congrats to everyone that were approved! Our case got to the embassy today! We are soooo excited!

Hi Leah- tell Matt we said good luck on his interview this Thursday!! Also, just wanted to know if he emailed the US embassy in Joburg to confirm they received the case right after you received notice from the NVC? Just received an email that our case left the NVC today... wondering if he should email them tomorrow? We are hoping they receive our case soon so we can schedule Sabastion's medical appt and interview at the beginning of November!

It’s been two or three weeks since I saw the schedule, but there were three open Thursdays in October and every Thursday in November except for Thanksgiving.

They didn’t have December dates posted yet.

I looked today and the first available date offered for the K visa interview to us was December 13th, which is a bummer as we were hoping to get a November interview date. Maybe they will add more dates due to the holidays? Not sure.

This makes me really sad! My small hope of being in the States for Christmas is slowly seeming like it will be impossible. 😩

Hi guys

For all the couples that made it to the USA, how did you experience your first week?

Did you guys had a culture shock or any trouble adapting so far?

I would like to hear your experience.

Good luck to all the couples waiting for interviews and visa's.

I am now 13 days in Florida. Everything is so different here and I have a lot to learn.

My first week was overwhelming. I still feel jet lag sometimes but every day it get's better.

I am the US Citizen, but I lived in South Africa for many many years. So I know about adjusting.

My husband is in the USA with me.

Everything is very different, but still the same! My husband had some cultural shock, and I think he still does.

We get together with South Africans in our area for a lekker braai about once a month. Check FB for some South African in the USA groups.

Try to settle into a routine. If you are looking for a job wake up and spend X amount of hours looking for a job. Try to spend time exploring your new area.

And, you just arrived in the USA don't worry everything is still new and overwhelming!
