Hmmm I guess I just assumed that because she put Cape Town under Consular Processing Information (Your beneficiary will apply for a visa abroad at the U.S. Embassy or U.S. Consulate at....Cape Town) on the I-129f that it meant she'd have the interview there?

If she can't have it in Cape Town, what are the wait times like for the interview at Johannesburg?

We got our first available appointment for Nov15th, and we checked Nov 29th is also available. When the consulate receives your file, just drop them an email, and you will receive your Packet 3 on the same day. I don't know about the December dates, I guess it was not open.

Yes there is actually 3 places, JHB, Pretoria and Capetown. But most people file with JHB maybe because it's in the center area of SA. The waiting period depends on the site where availability is possible. One of the immigrants at my interview actually told me about Durban, they also do interviews. I have been through JHB but we waited from 18th June till 27th September for our interview date. Just be patient. And oh one thing you should know is you cant change Embassies. If you file with CPT you have to attend there.

Ayeshacharles,

I have my fiance's interview scheduled for Nov 29th and was wondering how long after the interview does it take DHL to ship to her house?  I paid the upgraded shipping, but want to make sure we can arrange her flight. She's in the US with me now and will be flying back for the medical and interview, but we'd like it to be a short trip home.  Also, when scheduling the medical, do they require you interview appt confirmation?

Yes for the medical you need to have the interview confirmation the instrustion page they have you print out with all the details and your case number.  The medical is fairly easy and they send you a list of required documents you need. I emailed them and they sent me a list of things.

The conusalte is extremely busy and there are lots of holidays coming up and that causes delay. There was one holiday this week Columbus day and the consulate is short on staff.  So it depends some get their visa in 2days others wait 2 weeks.

I also paid for the upgrade and I'm still waiting for them to issue my visa so it really all depends on how busy the consulate work load is and how many visas they are printing and reviewing a well.  And I scheduled a flight for this Sunday and now have to move it due to the delay.

Hope this helps. I wish you all the best .

Thanks for the info!!  Hard to believe what started out as a simple friendship 2 years ago has progressed to this point!  I thought this day would never come, but we're almost at the finish line!!  I wish everyone on this journey the best of luck, and for those just starting out, be patient, it's worth it!
