@Mozam

We got our NOA2 via mail only, dated Aug 8. It was well over a month later that we got an email notification that our status had changed to approved. After that, the website finally updated!

From getting the NOA2, it was only 6 or 7 weeks until we got passed the NVC and our email from the consulate. Good luck!!

Thank you! Yes, Thursday is going to be sad and excited the same time. Saying goodbye to my Mom, Dad, a brother, Sister and granny. But I know they want me to be happy.

Good luck to everyone still busy with the K1 journey. Don't loose hope, it's worth the wait in the end.

HI

First I would like to congrats to all who received their visa and safe travel to the states. My fiance is from zambia and i didnt find any zambia forum and since SA is the closest to zambia I was hoping you guys can give me some insights. I wanted to know how long would it take for NVC to approve and send the documents to embassy. I called NVC and they told me that your case will be done soon. NVC recieved my case September 14 2018. I also got my case number and keep track on the website but all it says that its at NVC. If you guys could help me out and let me know how long it took you guys for NVC to approve I would really apperciate it. I am nervous because the wedding date is december 15 2018 and looks like im  cutting it close. Any help I would really apperciate it.

I think each case is unique but we waited 4-5 weeks and another 2-3 weeks for embassy package. You can see on our time line the timming between NVC and actual interview. We had it bad because we received our embassy package on 20th July but the embassy interview slots were closed up till end Sept. We were lucky to get a 27th Sept opening.

There is a site you can track your NVC parcel. Once it say "document ready" you can contact the Embassy to ask for your package.

Look under Nonimmigrant visa status: choose embassy example South-Africa Johannesburg, case number from NVC and then they will say "document ready" or "in transit "

https://ceac.state.gov/ceac/

Good luck :)

p.s you use that same site to track visa after approval at interview. And you will get a email from Embassy DHL to send you a tracking number to parcel.

Hi vintage good luck on your travels and I would say you are lucky to be in Florida. I'm in Chicago and we are about to start the bittter freezing cold. Thank you for your response and your help. I check the website frequently and call NVC once in a while to get an update on my case. I called yesterday and they told me we put your case in on sept 18 ( this is when the case number was created). And they are still processing my case, the good news is they didnt tell me my case is AP (Advance processing) which from what i heard they select randomly and could take months to get through.

I wanted to know when would it be the best time for my fiance to start the ds160 form and go for medical. I already have the case and invoice number from NVC. The agent I spoke to advice me to wait for an email or letter from the embassy but since my wedding date is on Dec 15 I dont want to cut it close especially if their is a long wait for interview date. I could tell my fiance to call and find out how long the wait for the interview is. But what do you recommend on when should she start filling out the form and schedule the medical and intereview date. Thank you in advance for all your help.

Well, our INS lawyer were very strick doing everything by the books. He filled out our DS160 form just after case number received. We were only aloud to schedule and pay visa after Embassy package 3 received. Then we had to wait a long time for slots to open up. All I can say is fill out the DS160 first, wait for Embassy letter. All appointments are scheduled online, there is no other way to see available dates.

Hi everyone,

Just want to update you guys. i got my NO2 approved today (oct 2), I felt so relieved. I got off work was looking through my email on the freeway and so a mail from nvc. At first I was confused because they said to open the word document. After opening the document I read my case was appoved.

So to help anyone with the timeline I dont know if it is different because my case is going to Lusaka but I will post to give anyone one else who was as nervois as me some relief that they should be hearing in a week.

September 14 my case was recieved at NVC. September 18 case was opened at nvc (Case number assigned).  October 2 2018 cas was approved by NVC and sent to US Embassy. I know the journey is not over but i felt a whole lot of relief after NVC approved. I cant imagine how i will  be when my fiance gets her visa. Good luck to everyone that is still waiting for their NOA2 approval.
