South African K1 Visa applicants

Hello all 

I’m glad joined this group, spouse visa case still in NVC waiting interview appointment, anyone know what month last interviewed in Johannesburg ( on what month they stop interviewing ) my doc completed on June 20. SA border still closed, when will they reopen?, How are Johannesburg counselor fast anyone had experience? Thanks

Good Morning,

 

I emailed the US Embassy in Johannesburg yesterday and this is the response i received regarding the K-1 interviews and processing this morning

 

I emailed them again letting them know the K-1 is not part of the Presidents Proclamation and they replied doubling down 

 

 

"Dear Sir or Madam,

 

Thank you for your email.

 

All routine visa processing has been suspended until 30 December 2020 due to the Presidential Proclamation for coronavirus. There are exceptions for IR1/IR2s, CR1/2s visas.  We are not conducting any visa interviews at the moment and awaiting guidance on how to process and scheduled visa interviews.

 

We can understand your frustration. And at the same time, we can only give you information when we have it.  There is also a system of many others in your same situation.  This is a pandemic and everything has been turned upside down.  We are following U.S. Government rules on when we can interview and open up to the public. 

 

We are currently working from home and NOT processing visas at the moment, please check our website for more information

Just popping in the say hi! and check on everyone.. i hope you guys are well and those that cases have come to an abrupt stop because of COVID 19 I hope immigration starts moving again for you! We were in the midst of preparing for our AOS interview but it was rescheduled in March and we just received notification on Aug 4th that we have a new interview date...we are waiting on the hard copy to come in the mail to see the actual date. Sending good vibes that immigration starts moving soon!

Hi guys! This isn't really my stomping ground since we are undergoing the CR1 immigration process, however, we have created a group on Facebook for supporting all immigrant visa filers that will be processed through Johannesburg. This applies to filers from SA, Lesotho, Eswatini, Botswana, Namibia, and Mozambique. Also, we include K1 filers in our ranks because of the necessity of your interview going through the same process, even though your visas are technically deemed non-immigrant. Had our AOS interview today after it was rescheduled from April.  Told us it could take up to four months before we know anything.  But the interview went well.  Just happy to be together, but wish we could visit her family.

We got notice today that the card is being printed.  Thank God this is over for a while now.  I feel for all of you still in the process, especially those who are still waiting for interview at consulate.  So happy to have my wife here and hope you are all together soon.

This is late to reply but, they were doing interviews for K1 in mid march and I'm pretty sure the first cancelations were the last week of March.

Has anyone heard of or had any K-1 Visa movement in Joberg? our application is still at the NVC here in America and i can not get anything or any type of answer on our case

Stopping in to say hi to everyone and I hope they have resumed interviews in Jozay.... My husband and I finally had our AOS interview on Sept 24th it was originally March 24th. We received on Oct. 30th that our case was approved and received notifiction on Monday the greencard is being produced. So we will soon have greencard in hand. We are relieved we get a little break from this especially since covid has slowed everything down. Good luck to everyone
