Hi everyone!

Anyone gone to the SA consulate in LA to get a name change on passport?

What's the process?

Yes,  you have to apply for a new passport which will take 6-12 months to do this.

When children follow to join, after the mom has moved over, what is the process for them to book an interview? Is it same as mine - DS160, book interview and medicals? Is it necessary for them to go to the interview if my k1 was approved and Im already married and in the US? If so - what documents do they need to take with to interview (they are under age 13). I have all my original docs with me for AOS..

Sounds good! Don't forget your 2 passport photos (2in x 2in / 5cm x 5cm). It's the first thing they check before you actually enter the consulate building. Best of luck, and don't stress! Everything will go smoothly :)

Congrats!  Based on your timeline, your visa went very quick.  Maybe things are beginning to speed up with USCIS as I'm hopeful our AOS process goes quick. Good luck to everyone else going thru this process!

Hi guys , hope everyone is well.

With regards to the AOS, do we have to get a new medical done here  in the US (because of  the medical policy changes for form i-693) or is our medical that was done back home in SA still valid for a year??

still valid for one year although make sure that the box at the bottom of the Ds3025 is marked as completed

So at the bottom under number 2. On the firm ,the  box that is marked is the box that states “immigrant visa or parolee applicant completed vaccination requirements”,  is this the correct box? Seeing as I was applying for a k1 visa I assumed the “K Visa applicant voluntarily completed vaccination requiremts “ would be the box that had to be marked .

Hi everyone! K1 Visa applicant couple here.

My fiancé has to update his police clearance certificate with the US Consulate in Johannesburg as the one he previously submitted has expired. We emailed the consulate and they have said that we need to courier the document via DHL but gave us no further information about how to ensure that the updated document is added to his case file.

Has anyone had any experience with mailing documents to the consulate?

We were going to send to the address they have listed online with an "Attn" line added

Attn: US Immigrant Visa Department

1 Sandton Dr

Sandhurst, Johannesburg, 2146

South Africa

We were also going to include a cover sheet inside the envelope with the police certificate that states our case number and my fiancé's name and passport number

Do you guys think this is sufficient? We're probably overthinking this, but we just want to make sure the new police certificate ends up in the right hands as it took several weeks to receive!! Appreciate any help :)
