Hi all

I need help.. My visa interview date is on 6 June 2019 (next week). Unfortunately I do not have my unabridged birth certificate yet. I slipped up with this (I assumed my old form birth certificate was adequate) and applied too late, so will have to wait a few weeks for this. Should I still go for my interview next week or rather postpone the interview date? Would the embassy be lenient if I show up without my unabridged birth certificate (I have the short form birth certificate) and possibly ask me to send it through when I have it in hand, or will it be better if I change my date to end July and be sure I have my birth certificate by that time? I emailed the embassy to enquire about my situation, but I have not heard back from them and it has been three business days now. I have 4 police clearance certificates from countries I lived in. The first one of these expires 30 July, so I kind of have a time contraint for my interview date.

Thank you, I will be so thankful if anyone has advice!!

The best is to still go for your appointments and send the UBC when you receive it. Keep in mind that they’ll take some time to process your application after receiving the UBC and you’ll only be approved once they’ve received and processed it. Try and use an external company if it is an option for you financially. From what I’ve heard it can take some time to get this and you don’t want to be delayed by another 3 months.

How long does one stay in Admin. Processing if at interview in South Africa, JHB they need to send in tax stuff? I sent it in today, now wondering how long ill wait before they approve and post my passport and visa! ANyone been here?

We had to provide the UBC 2 weeks after the interview and were in Administrative Processing about a week after they received it. I don't think there is any hard timeline for this stuff. Be patient and keep checking the visa status.

I will write formal review in a bit - but everything went without a hitch.  They asked if we planed to return to Mozambique and we told them we were just waiting for the documents and then we would buy tickets to the states, The US woman said she couldnt promise but to come back tomorrow and perhaps they could have it done by then and if not return on Monday and they will have it for us.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart to everyone who has been a part of this group especially for always having words of support and encouragement.   For those still in the process I wish nothing but the best for you and hope you soon get to come live in the US also.

Hi Guys

Just an update.

Port of Entry 5th October 2018 after a long-awaited journey with the K 1 process and Embassy in JHB. Filed for Green card on the 30th December 2018, Biometric appointment 29th January 2019, Green card appointment 16th May 2019, Green card in hand on 22nd May 2019. Green card appointment went smooth and less stressful than the actual K 1 visa appointment. Green card's only valid for 2 years now, we can file for removal of conditions 90 days prior expiry and then file for citizenship.

Stay strong guys! Almost there. It's very expensive so save up for that green card if you want to push through till the end.

Regards

Did you apply for employment authorization and advanced parole as well? How long did they take to get?

We just went through this issue ourselves. We ended up using a large well known company called DocAssist to expedite the birth certificate and she got her birth certificate in about three weeks even though we were hearing horror stories that it takes months. There's also BunnyHop which is similar to DocAssist, and PassPorts4U, which we heard incredibly good things about like getting it within a week, but they are small and the things we heard about them sounded too good to be true. Be aware that some of these places such as BunnyHop can't help you if you've already started it on your own (we had but DocAssist was still able to help).

As far as whether you should go to the interview first or not, I've seen it be 50/50 from what the embassy told other people in this forum. I'd definitely ask the embassy what they want you to do and just follow their directions. When we asked they seemed to want us to wait for the documents, but we hadn't scheduled the interview at that time and didn't have time constraints on police reports.

Hey guys!

Getting closer to the interview date (20-06-2019), and getting a little nervous, but also very excited! I just wanted to make sure I have received "Packet 4". What exactly is this, as I haven't actually received anything via email from the consulate after my interview was booked. Is Packet 4 the print-out instructions from the confirmation page, or is it something different?

Thank you so much!
