Hi! For those of you that have already completed the medical appointments, I just had a few questions I was curious about:

  1. Is 'packet 3' or the Visa Interview appointment letter necessary to make the medical appointment? Our case is currently 'Ready' at the US Consulate as of yesterday morning, but we weren't sure if we had to wait to be mailed or emailed something. I'm assuming that we'll eventually be emailed or mailed a checklist but we just wanted to make the medical appointment as soon as possible.
  2. If you don't have your immunization records is this a problem or does this mean that you'll just have to pay more for vaccinations you may already have gotten?
  3. Once you've completed the medical appointment, does the doctor mail your results directly to the embassy or do you have to collect your results following your appointment and bring them with you to the interview?

Any help would be greatly appreciated! My fiance would be going to the doctor in Cape Town.

Do you have the email address and/or website? The US Consulate in Johannesburg just received our case today so we finally have an interview date on 20-Dec... but my fiancé needs to go ahead and make an appointment to have the medical exam done when he’s off work in November (he is a game ranger so his work schedule is weird- 6 weeks on, 2 weeks off). Thanks for the help!!

this is the information for the doctor in cape town that your fiance will be going to. If you dont have a  vaccination record it is fine, they will then give you a new one and when you dont have one in my experience I had my records but a few others didn't and required they received two or just one shot . All you need to book an appointment is the conformation of your interview date with your case number on it.  Also have you received the email from the nvc that it's on it's way to the consulate?

I would  recommend that you contact the consulate for packet 3 to see if they have your case and if they have processed it. I waited two weeks before the consulate contacted me and sent me packet 3. They normally send it via email.

Witu regard to the medical results, the doctors office in cape town and in Johannesburg sends the medicals to the consulate

Does anyone have experience filling out the Affidavit of Support using a co-sponsor? I have a few questions, but would love to get input from someone that has been approved from our particular embassy.

Finally got approved about a week ago, I've been trying my best to read up on what comes next for the NVC and SA Embassy and just want to make sure I'm understanding the process right...

1) Call NVC in ~2weeks time to see if they received my case. Keep calling over the few weeks after until I can get my embassy case#.

2) Once I have my embassy case # I can check on their website (https://ceac.state.gov/ceacstattracker/status.aspx) to see when it's received and processed by the South African embassy (status will read "ready")

3) Email / Call the S.A. Embassy to have them email my fiance packet 3 (this way we don't have to wait for them to reach out to her)

4) After receiving packet 3, it will have info about where to get the medical exam and how to schedule her interview

5) Complete medical exam (they will send the docs to the embassy) and schedule her interview.

6) She passes the official interview.

7) She gets the visa and comes to America!

Am i understanding this whole thing right? Is there anything missed to get this done faster? (like scheduling the medical exam right after receiving the embassy case #??)

Also my understanding is there's only 2 doctors that are approved to do the medical exam? (Dr. Junaid Hoosen / Dr. Marcus Brauer) Is that correct?

I already know about the affidavit of support and the additional docs she'll need to take to the interview, at this point I'm a little more concerned about just getting her to the interview!

Thanks in advance!! 😁
