Hi all,

I am a beneficiary from Sydney, Australia currently applying for the k1 visa.

Our approved application is currently sitting with the consulate in Sydney after being processed by the NVC. My petitioner has lodged the DS-160 form online and we have paid our visa fee $265usd. I was hoping if someone can confirm the steps from here.

Do I need to receive the instructions via the mail before I can book the interview? I am away from my house for the next two weeks (will it arrive in the mail and/or does it need to be signed for ie I need to be there at the house?) Can anyone confirm?

Am I able to book the interview in now? I am currently unable to do this on the US Travel Docs website.

Thank you in advance !

I have an additional question for anyone who can share their experience.

I will need to have my medical completed in Melbourne before I travel up to Sydney for the interview. I am currently travelling too, so I will need to return back to Australia once I have the interview date confirmed.

What is the shortest time frame I can book the medical before the interview date? (Will one week be sufficient assuming the medical goes smoothly)

Worse case scenario, am I able to complete the interview without the medical paperwork coming through? What would happen in this case? (I assume the visa wouldn't be issued until the medical paperwork comes through? I hope the visa couldn't be denied based on the medical paperwork not being processed?).

Thanks all!

Hey, I posted not too long ago about my medical in Melbourne. Go through my post history to find it.

When I called them up to make a booking, it seemed like the doctor was available on most days (except weekends, and maybe one day of the weekday - I believe Thursday). They will ask for your interview date when you book it, so maybe wait until you receive that.

Once you have the medical done, they will ring you when it is ready to pick up the reports. I did mine on a Friday, they called me on the Monday 3 days later saying that is ready to get picked up. But they did say 5 business days so I think if you booked it a week and half before your interview, it should be okay.
