Well just going through processing timings of n400 and its very overwhelming to see cases are taking almost 9 months to a year? anyone knows whats are the contributing factors leading to delays.. I still have 1 year 9 months file for n400 but just makes me sad that when I will file I will to be very patient!

I agree with you my wait is nearly 2 years.  Everybody says that the processing timelines are not correct.  Let’s pray that is the case because the wait is so long until you can apply then you have to wait another two years to complete the process.

Why don't you start worrying about this about a year and a half from now?  A lot can change.  And yes, you will have to be patient no matter what.  In the meantime, enjoy life, find a hobby (other than checking processing "timings"), etc.  Good luck.

As a LPR you can travel freely (subject to the in-country requirements) and largely have the same rights as a US citizen with a few exceptions.  There's no reason to sweat the naturalization process as when the time comes it is very different to the anxiety and (often-times) separation that comes with the initial immigration process.

Processing times aren’t accurate at all. Some people get it done in less than 3 months and some people wait more than a year . It’s crazy

Yah, and what's up with that?  Are these expedites?  And if so, why?

I haven't followed those very quick approvals (eg N-400 approvals) but I do know that when I filed for my I-130 they were expediting apps from the Philippines and Thailand due to the tsunami and heavy flooding so I do know there are special cases.  Think they were also expediting some victims of heavy flooding in Europe too (just can't remember where).

It bugs me when people on VJ flaunt early approvals but fail to provide information as to why.

best you make good use of the time you have.  Continue to collect and organize information needed on your I-751 if you haven't applied yet and become familiar with the applications (although they may change).  Explore your city and get out and make friends.  We've all put in the time or are putting in the time.  You are no exception albeit frustrating.

I, too, am counting the months before my N-400 gets in the mail. :)

Thread is moved from the US Citizenship main forum to the USCIS Service Centers forum -- topic involves processing-times in general.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

If you are applying for 3-year rule then waiting time is longer almost 2 years. I just waited almost 18 months and finally decided to withdraw my application.

Really? That's way too long.. Anything wrong with your application? Meaning criminal record or anything?

There must be some standard process and some specific (to the type of GC under the N400) process. The standard process (something like basic info check, criminal records/background check etc) may be same across all applicants But if your GC is family based(including marriage etc), it may take longer than an Employment Based GC. As there will be lengthy and very detailed interview process compared to the Employment based. This is just my speculation but not a first hand experience though.

So, within N400 queue line, few cases may get moved back and forth.
