My wife finished her interview on february 1, 2018 for the cr1 visa. She received an approval that said she will receive the visa in two weeks. Two weeks have passed and the ceac status is still with the status ready. The only update was in february 7th, 2018 on the ceac. We thought this step was easy and scheduled the flight for march 7th. Again, they have proved to be untrustworthy. I am not sure how we trust the state department with security when they can't even be trusted with information. In any case, the only way to communicate with the cairo US embassy is via email and they replied with a generic message with bad english  ,which begs the question on how the hell this is a united states embassy,  that the case is with the officer's review and is being processed.

Thank you for your email.

Please note that the file with the officer for his review, once we finish our procedures, we will process the case to conclusion.

Part of another email reply is an faq that states that they do their best to get it within three weeks. The paper at the end of the interview said within two weeks, their "frequently asked questions" says within three weeks. I really don't believe anything they claim. I am actually disappointed that part of my salary goes to them, which is why I am a libertarian-leaning citizen. I have no idea what to do for them to keep their word like honorable people do. I want to know how to proceed forward. They seem to have this stranglehold on our rights without any due process. What can I do?

Most cases in Egypt would hit major AP, so there is no magic timeline, you should not buy a ticket until the visa is in hand.

Hi Boiler,

She didn't get the 221g slip. Besides this is not your typical egyptian girl, she's also northern european. The administrative processing is silly because she has nothing to do with any activities that are anything near risky. I really doubt she is under major AP.  I think they are not actively working on the case and I need to contact someone about this poor display of work ethics. Seriously a disgrace to such a great nation. Protestant work ethics my ###.  I don't even know who I can contact about this. I will escalate to a supervisor at the nvc. She's been to the US on a vistor's visa from europe and hasn't overstayed. Absolutely nothing to look into.
