He could probably fill in the rest of the blanks, since I was terribly drunk that night.

Our first conversation started out when I noticed her name tag had her home country (Philippines) on it. Since not many US men can say they've been there I opened with something like, 'You're from the Philippines? I visited Cebu City about 2 years ago'. After that we talked about a ton of stuff for 2 hours, exchanged contact info, and as they say, the rest is history.

Ummm...I think it was cheesy horror movies of the 1960s we have known and loved -- in particular, Carnival of Souls. Then we segued into a conversation on Gordon Lightfoot. As you do, of course.

I don't remember our very first conversation because we met 11 years ago. I do clearly remember our first conversation when we reconnected after being out of touch for 4 years. We talked 8 hours, all the way through the night. First, we reminisced about when we first knew each other and then went on to what we were doing in our lives at that point. Then we got on the topic of music and realized that we loved a lot of the same bands. I guess our topics covered just about everything. It was such a great conversation. It taught me that no matter how much time passes, when you connect with someone as deeply as we've always connected, the time doesn't matter and things just feel right.

I asked him if he wanted to trade jobs.....I am a Massage Therapist and he was a

telecommunication operator with the UNHCR near refugee camps.

I thought his job was a lot more interesting than mine.

From there it went to the political corruption in Africa and then to our

personal lives......here we are 2 years later !

Today, one year ago May 1 is the first day I met him face to face and we have not

seen each other since my stay there.
