The consulates can revalidate visa applications for additional 4-month periods for up to a year.

They typically do this automatically, but it's best to e-mail them your request that they do so.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

I see! So, if my NOA2 was December 20, 2017, does my fiancée have to have her visa in hand by April 20, 2018?

Same here. 1 month since Moscow received our K-1 application and still 'no appointments available'.

In the email they sent us it says that we can request a transfer to another embassy and there is no mention of any kind of residency requirement. Anyone try this?

In a few weeks, e-mail the embassy with her A number in the subject line; say that no interview openings are available, and request that the validity of the petition be extended for at least another 4 months.

Thank you so much for chiming in, man. It seems like there are so many moving parts sometimes. A point In the right direction is a big help. 👍

You're welcome.  I asked that question to a retired consular officer, who said that the consulates often extend petition validity on their own, but that it covers all bases to request same by e-mail.  That makes sense.

Really? I did not know about this. How would you go about doing this?

You can write to any US embassy in the world and ask if they will accept your case for transfer. That is what we did. No way we're waiting in the dark for an interview date in Moscow to open up!

Where did you transfer to? Did you have to do everything over such as the visa fee and the DS-160?

Apparently, I just missed an opportunity to schedule an interview today (at Moscow) and all spots are filled already. How is this fair?! It has been like 7 weeks and I am still waiting for an interview. What can we do? This is bull (excuse my language). Us picking our own interviews doesn’t seem like a fair process but hey, whatever. Moscow seems impossible at the moment. How does the transfer process to another embassy work? This visa process is ruining my life. Please help me, guys.

My fiancée received this message from a visa information site she is signed up for:

Basically,

I MISSED an opportunity to schedule my interview today and now, I have to wait until mid April to land a June interview. I cannot believe this.

I KNOW I am being redundant but how does one transfer a case? My I-129F said Moscow, will that be a problem to transfer?!?! What do I do?!

Hey guys! This whole process is a nightmare, especially concerning the embassy part... I'm also curious about the transferring thing =)

What time do you usually check the website to see available interview dates?

I would say start checking about 08:00 Moscow time until about 20:00 Moscow time, several times throughout the day. There is a limit on how many times you can check but, I am not sure how many times exactly, aha. That's what I do but obviously, I have had no luck for about 2 months now. I feel like I am doing something wrong. They have had my case in Moscow since about late January. I am trying to transfer, too, so hopefully, somebody who has done so will pitch in!
