I'm sure many/most of you do too....but I think every so often (QUITE often, actually) about just how lucky...and that's really all it was...pure luck....that I was born in this country. Now, as a rule, I don't believe in luck....but you know what I'm getting at here.

The most recent thing that sparked this thinking was American Idol the other night...of ALL things..I KNOW! The gives back episode. I think it probably brought a lot of people to tears to see all of that footage...it's so easy to just try not to think about it, or to flip the channel when stuff like that comes on....becasue if we have to really REALLY stop and think on it...it is just SO utterly heartbreaking.

I just wanted to say I feel so blessed to have been born/raised here and to live here now. Same would go had I been born in the UK, in Canada, in Australia, in any NUMBER of other great countries....you know what my point is here...but in parts of Africa and SO many other countries...those poor, poor people that's all I can say. :(

It just really gets to me once in a while, is all and I felt like talking about it. I wish, I SO wish there was more I could do. ANYTHING I could do, if I'm being honest...'cause I'm really not doing anything now. Sometimes I feel so guilty griping about this that or the other thing and then seeing something like that...it's like...did I REALLY just gripe 'cause we couldn't afford to go out somewhere this weekend??? You know? So we need new carpet (bigtime! it's bad!) in the livingroom, and it really annoys me looking at it some days.....then we watch that episode and we see like SIXTEEN kids/adults living in one little tiny hut/shack without even one real bed...and I look around my house...to them, I'm in an absolute mansion.

It makes me ashamed sometimes....but it's good to think about too...because it also makes me very, VERY grateful. I hope these serious serious problems of AIDS and hunger and etc etc etc can be taken care of one day. Those people are just like us inside...and they love their kids just the same as us, and their parents, and all of their relatives...and every day they're dying. It just makes me sad. I'm done now. :(
