I have a question though. I've been reading about Income Tax Returns and Poverty Guidelines.

Since they already approved our petition, it won't be an issue anymore right? Or will they look into it during the interview? How do I know if we're good or not? In his Income Tax Return? Which part?

To determine if you will have no issues for the financial part which is to say do you meet the financial standards here is the link to the poverty guidelines.

Apparently, my fiance hasn't finished doing his taxes for 2017. But in the email sent by the embassy they only asked for his 2016 taxes.

It's ok right? I'm just really nervous about my interview 😱😱😱

The rule of thumb is if you have submitted your taxes and they have been excepted by the IRS then use the latest submission. To determine this see if you can get a 2017 ITR from the IRS for the interview.  If you have not filed then use 2016. All will be fine.

You need to relax. You're going to get through this. Just read what is required, gather what is required and bring to the interview what is required. It's that simple. The interview will last all but 5 minutes. You're getting yourself all worked up.

Hi everyone,

Does anybody know when you pay the fee for the visa? I thought it was after you submit the DS-160....

Normally you 1. get your case number 2. you pay your visa fee 3. you schedule your interview 4. you complete the DS-160. I found this information but keep in mind they may be more that is required at your Embassy. You should call them to get further details.

U.S. Embassy Santiago

Av. Andrés Bello 2800

Las Condes

Santiago, Chile

Phone: (56-2) 2330-3000

Fax: (56-2) 2330-3710

email: Santiagoimmigration@state.gov

Also, You, the foreign-citizen fiancé(e), (and eligible children applying for K-2 visas) will be required to bring the following forms and documents to the visa interview:

Completed Form DS-160, Online Nonimmigrant Visa Application. You (and any eligible children applying for K-2 visas) must: (1) complete Form DS-160 and (2) print the DS-160 confirmation page to bring to your interview.

A passport valid for travel to the United States and with a validity date at least six months beyond your intended period of stay in the U.S. (unless country-specific agreements provide exemptions).

Divorce or death certificate(s) of any previous spouse(s) for both you and the U.S. citizen sponsor

Police certificates from your present country of residence and all countries where you have lived for six months or more since age 16 (Police certificates are also required for accompanying children age 16 or older)

Medical examination (vaccinations are optional, see below)

Evidence of financial support (Form I-134, Affidavit of Support, may be requested)

Two (2) 2x2 photographs. See the required photo format explained in Photograph Requirements

Evidence of relationship with your U.S. citizen fiancé(e)

Payment of fees, as explained below

Note: The consular officer may ask for additional information, such as photographs and other proof that the relationship with your U.S. citizen fiancé(e) is genuine. Documents in foreign languages, other than the language of the country in which the application takes place, should be translated. Applicants should take to the visa interview clear, legible photocopies of civil documents and translations, such as birth and divorce certificates. Original documents and translations will be returned.

Anyone from Mumbai India K1 Interview scheduling got dates for April  20, 27th recently ? I keep seeing April 13th available since yesterday but none for last week of April.

My PCC application requires local Police Verification - takes atleast 3 weeks on average as passport was issued in Indian Consulate abroad and in such case current address matching that of passport makes no difference; it triggered a Pre-Verification.

I had April 6th booked earlier but canceled it and now looking to move it further by two weeks.

hey!!! the current latest date shows on the website is april 6 if it doesnt change that means theyre all full keep checking the website 1x everyday. I rescheduled 3 times. If someone reschedules to closer date it is likely youll get thiers  but you have to keep checking the website everyday. FIY you dont have to cancel it just make a new account and look for dates everyday when you see new date pops up then reschedule it in your original account.....good luck!!!

Can anyone tell me what is appropriate for booking flight for K1 entry? I mean, if we book a round trip, can we just book it as cheep as possible not worrying about the date? Like we found cheep flight dates with a 6 day round trip price. Do the immigration agents care about this knowing it's a K1? Or should we book it out the extended 90 days and then once were married let the return ticket go un-used? Or Must we book a one way ticket? Or do they not allow that?

You can book either a one way or a round trip doesn't matter to immigration. Of course choosing the one that his cheapest is in your best interest. BUT!!!!!

Embassy states in their letter: Do not finalize arrangements for travel to the United States, dispose of property, or resign from your job until a visa has been issued and delivered to you. Generally, a single-entry fiancé(e) (K-1) non-immigrant visa is valid for six months from the date of issuance, unless its validity is limited by medical or other restrictions.
