Hi Guys,

NOA2 date is 02/13/2018.  From what I understand the next step is to start calling the NVC for a number in a few days.  My parnter and myself are both in South Africa at the moment.  Does anyone have any tips for calling via the internet.... SKYPE Calling??

Thanks

You can download vonage app on your phone, that's what I'm usIng I am calling from Philippines. You have to put a credit in it 0.1 cents per minute, means in $1 you have 100 minutes... It's worth it really cheap

So it is not true that you have to get a letter of intent within 30 days prior to your interview? As long as the noa2 is not expired?

That is something you should ask in your regional forum of people who have interviewed in Manila to verify.  Or read all the writeups people have written about interviews at your consulate. Or search your consulates website. This forum is about how long to get from NOA2 to the NVC, but I fear you are all with confusing each other guessing what happens beyond NVC at the many varied embassies represented. You will all have different procedures.

For example, London has the following on their website. That does not mean another consulate does not have a local requirement that is different or more strict than what the State Department requires.

If the visa interview is scheduled more than 4 months from the date the petition is approved, the applicant is required to provide an original letter from the petitioner, confirming that they both remain legally free to marry and that they intend to do so within 90 days of the applicant’s entry to the United States.  There is no requirement that the letter be notarized.

Wouter,

I've been calling with Skype and it works great. It costs less than 0.02 per minute. My NOA2 was 02/02/2018, and after calling the NVC day after day they were able to tell me they received the case from USCIS on 02/13/2018, but as of yesterday they still have not placed it into their system so that I can receive my NVC case #. They suggested waiting two weeks before they will be able to issue the NVC case #.  Good luck.

I think  you should  try to call  them again, our NOA2  is Feb 6th, my fiance  called  them  today  and they told  him that our file is sent today  to US embassy  in my country, they didn't  give  him  a  case  number  though, I guess  he was very  excited  to hear the file  is on way to my country  and he didn't  bother  to ask the case number.

Hey so I would appreciate if someone could help me! I got my NVC case number today and immediately rang up for my medical in London and got offered an appointment this saturday 24th, which naturally I took as I thought was super quick. Now Im in a predicament as I assumed My fiance or myself would receive an email of our case number- which we havent yet, as she just rang up and asked for it and they gave it to her.. Are we supposed to get one? The medical is in like 3 days so I obviously need something to prove my case number. NVC told my fiance that I the beneficiary would receive something from the embassy when it was ready but thats what I need for the interview.. I thought it was something else for the medical? did anyone receive a confirmation email or letter from NVC about the case number? Please help!

The good news is that when you get your number it's basically like 2-3 days now until it's sent to the embassy. I woke up this morning and looked at the CEAC tracker and it said "In Transit" and a few hours later it said "Ready". Amazing. It almost feels wrong moving so fast after all that waiting! Tomorrow, I have to go to the bank to pay the fee and my fiance will schedule his medical. Then seven days after the medical we can schedule the interview. UNREAL.

I'm glad things went so speedily for you.  I hope for all the incoming people's sake that they are NOT stuck on that garbage new electronic system that seems to excel only at holding on to cases to no end whatsoever for long periods of time while others not in that system whiz right on by.

I've seen all along, but especially see now, why this infuriating, opaque process pushes people to their wit's end.  I seriously thought the NOA2 would bring me peace but I am pretty sure I've been feeling worse since we got it.

Hello Everyone so i have a couple of questions.

1. Our NVC status states it's Ready, does that mean I can schedule an interview for my fiancé?

2. Do I have to provide a letter from my bank with my information?

Hi thread starter and everyone. Greetings from the Philippines. Hopefully this is the right thread to ask this question.  My fiance received the NOA1 last August  21, 2017 and today should be the 6th month. May I ask those who got their NOA2s this Feb as to when your NOA1s received? Do guys think we should wait for another month before calling USCIS? Thank you so much in advance

Please follow the August filers thread.

Noa1 date varies from May to August (the latest day touched as of today August 22 noa1 received date). I also saw on vj that someone from february 2017 got their noa2 today after an rfe. So it varies extremely.

Yes and Probably Yes

You'll get an email from the embassy with all the instructions attached on how to log on to the system, make the fee payment, and schedule your interview. For Bucharest they require the medical at least seven days before the interview, not sure what it will be in Moldova.

If you are the petitioner, you'll need the bank letter to prove assets on the I-134. If you are the beneficiary, then no, you don't need to provide a bank statement.

While waiting for Case Number I already filled up the DS160, and this confirmation made me confuse. Does this mean that we need to get the Hard copy of NOA2 from  our fiancée or maybe they can just scan it and send through email?

They look at your total earned before taxes.

Am I really going to have to do it all over again?  I did mine but I did it with the after tax income.  My income on the Affidavit is $6,000 less than what my employer put on my employment letter because I used my income off my 2017 income taxes.  I have gotten a raise since then.  If they ask, I was just going to tell them that I did not want to over-estimate the income.  I made less in 2017 than I had in the previous 3 years because of taking unpaid leave to see my fiancé and because I was single and withholding at a higher rate.  I would think you would only get in trouble if you were passing your income off as higher than it is not lower.

IDK man. I filed my taxes and got my return already. I ordered the transcript from the IRS and have already filled out he affidavit. I would ask your employer to write a new letter clarifying that in 2017 you made x amount, but that amount will be y in 2018. That way they have a very cut and dry standard.
