hey guys, quick question :)

NVC  got our case March 15, is it too early to call them and ask for the case #?

i've seen some post that it'll take up to 8weeks for them to assign a case #. how true?

thanks in advance :)

My case arrived NVC February 8th and the same day they asigned the number, so you can call, everything can happen.

I am from the Philippines but I am currently here in Doha, Qatar. We filed our case here. Maybe the steps similar?

Each embassy can be different. I think you will have to keep searching for the Embassy Letter so that you can keep moving forward. At this time I don't think I can be of much help.

I did find this. You can look through it and glean what you can. PM somebody in the thread there and ask for help.

Hey everyone, I need some advice to get through to the London embassy.

I was living in the UK with my partner when I applied for the visa, he has since left to go back to the US. I was quite lonely without him and wanted to move back to my home country, The Netherlands. We contacted USCIS to ask if that would be a problem. They said we could just change my address and they would send our case file to the nearest embassy.

Fast forward to now, I am now in The Netherlands, but it turns out they just send the case file to London anyway. Our case has been "ready" since March 9th. I feel a bit blindsided because it turns out it's not that easy to change the embassy and they gave us wrong information. The thing is, it's not that difficult for me to just go to the interview in London BUT I have not received the letter inviting me to the interview. They probably send it to my old address and I have no way of retrieving that.

When we called to NVC they did confirm they have my current (Dutch) address in the system but to ask the London embassy what happened to the letter. The problem is that it's impossible to contact them?? Absolutely unbelievable! We can't get an actual person on the phone, it keeps telling us to do everything online. We have send an email about 1,5 week ago and haven't heard anything back. Called NVC again and they just said to keep bugging the embassy.

I am in despair!! We are so close and it seems to go so wrong now.
Does anyone know to speak to an actual person and get some insight into where they send my letter and if it's possible to just come to the London interview despite not living there??

Maybe ask this question in the UK sub-forum. http://www.visajourney.com/forums/forum/99-united-kingdom/

Mine started showing In Transit on Monday the 19th. Still no email from the NVC either.

seems the email is not consistent - some ppl get it and others don’t. You should email the NVC to get a confirmation of the case number and with that email you can pretty much schedule you medical, pay visa fee and schedule the interview if you haven’t already.  We can’t rely on their updates unfortunately as evident as my USCIS status is still the NOA1 update only. Greenbaum (thank you so much your help is invaluable) has a lot of useful tips and links on his signature that can help you guide you through this process that way you can get things moving quite quickly and at your leisure so that way when you do get the email finally or the at NVC  you will have met all of your requirements already so that way no time has been wasted. I highly recommend you follow the steps if you haven’t already. I say to all of us let’s all hang in there while it is a slow process it’s going to get done but let’s use the time we’re waiting constructively that’s what I had to do because I’m going out of my mind waiting for this to happen 😩

Has anyone who has done their interview brought a scrapbook for pictures?  We already have a good one and I hate for her to have to do more work, but didn't know if they need to be on individual sheets or you can just hand over the book.

Thank you very much. I really wish this will be over soon. LOL. I started writing a blog for the process here in Qatar. Coz there are a lot of posts in the Philippines and in other countries, but I haven't found one for Qatar. Who knows, maybe in the future people can use my experience to guide them through the K1 process. :) Anyway, thanks again.
