Hello guys,

Quick update on my case.

CEAC website  shows  that my visa was issued on March 19th, they told  me to collect  my passport on wed March 21st.

My last day at work is March 28th.

I have purchased  my plane ticket from Swiss Air, POE  is Chicago  on March 31st. What a wonderful Easter holiday with my fiance.

Wedding  planned on April  14th. Can't wait for this day to happen, it has been a long journey since I met my fiance, April  10th 2014...4 good  years... All the best to everyone, K1 journey will get to end, stay positive always.

here is what I found out

USCIS sends paper file (petition) then NVC takes the paper file info and converts it to electronic file, then its emailed to a special inbox for each embassy, they download it, enter into the system and then notifies the NVC its in, then NVC changes the status to Ready.

we are booking the interview in 5 hours.....

then I book my plane ticket

cant believe this is actually happening, months waiting and now its down to days...

So Happy for you.  We have an interview on the 19th. Regretfully I cant be there until the 25th.

They will ask you a series of questions and based on your answers they may continue the questioning. If you used drugs in the past or you tried to inflect serious harm to yourself or you tried to commit suicide you will visit with the Phyc Doc. If you are perfectly honest during your exam questioning you'll have a good possibility in passing your medical.  Always, Always, Always be truthful because if they catch you in a lie then you will not get your visa and you could be banned for a very long time in applying again or it could be a permanent ban.

 

Having said that no one here has had the medical as they are all about where you are in the process. Ask the question over in the Philippines Sub-forum where there are some who are going or have been through it that can answer your question(s).

Also, in the upper right hand corner of this page you will see a blue box that says "Google Custom Search" and if you enter "SLEC Questions" and you will be reading for months. I kid you not but you will find your answer there.

Your visa application is good for one year. So you have time to go on vacation and when you return then you can pick up where you left off. I'm not sure if it's the same for the UK but in the Philippines the Embassy only opens one month of scheduling at a time. So you may be just a little early in your desire to schedule your interview. You might ask the question over in the UK sub-forum.

Please do not book or buy a plane ticket until you have your visa in your hands. We have see so many people buy ahead of the approval to find out something has delayed the process. They have had to change their plane ticket and many have said that it cost just as much to change the ticket as the ticket originally cost. If you have the money to pay for the change then no worries. Buy your ticket.

 

The Philippine Embassy gives this warning:

 

"Do not finalize arrangements for travel to the United States, dispose of property, or resign from your job until a visa has been issued and delivered to you. Generally, a single-entry fiancé(e) (K1) nonimmigrant visa is valid for six months from the date of issuance, unless its validity is limited by medical or other restrictions."

Why not cancel the appointment and reschedule during the time you can go with her to her interview. It's a bit chancy if there is a open slot but take a look at the calendar that is if you are interested. From my experience when I accompany my wife at her interview it was an eye opening experience to see how the process works and how our Government process so many people in and out during the interview stage. I wouldn't miss it if I had the chance to go again.

My mom is co-sponsoring our application (going through Rio De Janeiro).  Is it essential to have the letter from the bank/statements?  I'm not sure if she could get this, but she has a letter from her employer/pay stubs showing she makes $70,000+

Here is what is needed from the Embassy in Rio De Janeiro:

 

You must submit evidence showing that you and members of your family who will accompany you are not likely to become public charges while in the U.S. If you are going to use Affidavits of Support or job offer letters, make sure they were issued and signed within one year.

 

The petitioner may fill out an Affidavit of Support, Form I-134. The sponsor must attach proof of his/her income such as: copy of last U.S. Federal Income Tax (form 1040), proof of current employment, job offer, pay-slip, etc. One form is sufficient for all family members. You may present your own means of support.

not going through Philippines , and I'm booking my flight to Taiwan to be there for the interview one way ticket, then after we get the visa I will book two one way tickets to usa
