There's definitely something weird going on at NVC. I'm at my wits end trying to find out just what the truth is with my case...

I called just now (option 7) and was told that they do have my case and they received it on 21st February. They then said it can take up to 8 weeks to provide a case number. I said to the staff member that it was weird, as I've been told for the past two weeks that they don't have it at all. She couldn't tell me anything, so I hung up. So I tried again, this time with option 5. The same response:  they received our case on 21st February, but it can take up to 8 weeks to provide a case number. I told the lady I'm so confused as to what's going on, as I've been told for two weeks they don't have it, USCIS said NVC had sent it back, we got a second NOA2 from USCIS triggered from something... And now it turns out it was there at NVC all along? She sympathised, but all she could tell me is that they're now taking up to 8 weeks to process case numbers due to the large volume of cases right now. I wonder if the bad weather issues have anything to do with this, or it's another screw up somewhere along the line (as it was during December/January when cases were taking up to two months to reach NVC).

Something funky's happened to our case as something must've delayed processing in order for USCIS to tell us they needed to provide additional paperwork, which then triggered the second NOA2. It's incredibly frustrating to not have anyone explain exactly what's happened. I can only presume NVC were telling me they didn't have the case yet as they were still waiting on this additional paperwork from USCIS. What's more annoying is that had USCIS provided what they should've done in the first place a month ago, we now wouldn't be stuck in this weird "8 week window" problem...

Good luck to everyone else who's now going to met with this next roadblock. It was looking so good there for a while! :(  Seven months from NOA1 and my fiancee and I are still no further along. It was a month yesterday since NOA2 and I'd hoped to have my medical and interview booked by now. It's demoralising to get so far, and keep taking more steps back... I long for the day I don't need to think about this anymore.

I really empathize with what you wrote here and want to say you aren’t alone. I’m less than a week away from a month since my NOA2 and I’m no closer to booking anything. The change from 2 weeks to 8 weeks in their script today killed my morale since I was thinking ok in less than a week I can submit an inquiry as to what’s taking so long at least. I really hope you get some answers soon and one day we will never think of this again! Or maybe we can laugh even

Thank you for your compassion, and I'm really sorry that you're in the same boat as me. One day this will all be behind us! For now it's a struggle to stay positive when I keep coming up against these hurdles, but it definitely helps to read supportive comments on here. All we can do is keep calling, and hoping that we'll still be given a case number sooner than 8 weeks.

The absolute worst part of this for me is that my case was originally at NVC in *8 DAYS* from USCIS. That's 8 days total, not just working days. Which means that's super fast compared to previous timelines late last year. I was so thrilled to receive this good news originally, thinking that things were finally falling into place and I could start working out some actual, real dates of when the final stages of this K-1 process would be be. That was three weeks ago this Friday, and I've not got anywhere close to that yet - and still have to wait possibly another month. I wish everyone all the strength not to lose it when they think that they're finally so close, and then get the rug pulled from under their feet... Let's hope that this is just an anomaly for the next week or two, and NVC's script returns to normal very soon.

I have a question and would appreciate any help provided. My fiancee is a Philippine citizen living in Japan and her son lives in the Philippines with her mother. We just received out NVC case number and are going to fill out the DS-160. She is going to do her interview at the Tokyo embassy. Then her son will be coming later as part of the follow to join option. My question is does she need to fill out a DS-160 for him now or wait and do it within the year allowed for him to do his interview and get his visa?

don't believe the 8 weeks spu, they are probably told to say that to people that call so they wont keep calling because they been closed 3 days out of 10 business days, so they are behind. so lets give the callers "call back in 8 weeks line..." because there are people that got case number last week and have "in transit" already. so if 8 weeks was the truth then how to explain people going from case number to transit in a weeks time or less.

I think so too. It doesn't make sense that I called on Friday and the wait time was 2 weeks for case number, a snow day comes and it goes up to 8. Maybe they'll catch up and it'll return to normal in a few days
