called nvc , case been there a week she said "going through administrative processing", what the hell is that?

so I asked does this happen to every case , she said "some do some don't". what the hell?

I've read that NVC does additional background checks on some cases for whatever reason when it reaches them before sending it off to the embassy.

I've read other VJ members say that NVC did additional checks if they found that USCIS didn't complete everything correctly for an example. I don't know if that's true or not. I've just read that it has happened to people before where NVC held their case for a little longer for additional processing.

viewed your timeline, its incorrect. you have case number given today and in transit today. that doesn't happen. so NVC must have assigned a case number much earlier as it takes at least a week to go from at nvc to transit.

I talked to them today hoping I could get the address changed, no luck. But I did manage to ask when my case number was given, and it was the 12th. So only two days for mine to leave for Montreal.

emailed my lawyer, he sent a inquiry to NVC and then I replied back to him could he call then he replied with this:

When attorneys contact the NVC we are supposed use the designated e-mail that I used reserved only for attorneys.  These e-mails are given special treatment.

It is possible that the customer service rep may have not used the correct wording.  Yes, in my entire career I've never had a fiancee case got administrative processing before an interview.  This is why I asked for clarification that it is in fact in administrative processing.

Regarding the validity dates, the consular officers routinely extend the validity dates of the petition so I wouldn't worry about the validity dates.

Should you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me.

When I've called the last week trying to get a case number after they received our case on March 7th, I was told it could take up to 2 weeks to get a case number. Today I was told it can take up to 8 weeks to receive a case number after they receive a case because it's taking longer than usual. Feel like I'm losing my mind

Every time I've called this past week I was told it takes up to two weeks, I call today and am told it can take up to 8 weeks. I don't think this is a standard time frame :( Maybe it was when things were slow in January/December, but I don't think it's taking that long the past weeks.

It really can take that long. There may be a backup at Sweden. They may have a case in front of yours that's especially difficult. Maybe a certain system they use is down, hence causing a backlog. It sucks, it's shiplap. They WILL get to you.

I juat called and got the 8 weeks response too... do you guys think it will really take that long? Or its just what they are saying to cover for the rare cases that do actually take longer than 2 weeks?

It's probably just the blanket response, just like they told us about the K-1. "We're currently processing cases as of December 21st."

Yea this is what I thought (and really hope for).

How do we know if we're in the new or old system? When I call I dial the NVC # and then press 1 for English. After I press 7 for all other questions. Sometimes I even press 2 because it gets me a representative faster lol (I waited like 3 mins vs 20 mins with option 7 😂). I was never asked to try another option though no matter if I called with 2 or 7.
