Hi all! I'm a September filer, received my hard-copy NOA2 yesterday (dated 3/8). The March thread is really dead, so I'm going to follow this as well!

Is there any indication on how long it's taking for a case to be sent to NVC/receive a case number?

Two to four weeks, then 2 weeks for NVC to put into the system.

Hi, our NOA2 is Feb 26th and my fiance called NVC and got our NVC case number yesterday. But when I tried to check the case status online on CEAC, it just says "Invalid Application ID or Case Number". Has anyone had this problem?

As a K1, when checking your case online at CEAC you have to select "immigrant visa" as it is treated as such even though it is a "non-immigrant visa". Don't ask why, as no one has been able to articulate why!

Thanks! A little frustrating to know it's going to potentially take 6 weeks at this point, but nothing can be done, I guess. I made it through six months of waiting for NOA2, 6 weeks won't kill me.

Keep in mind that these "officers" answer hundreds of calls. Some people are nice to them and others are not. If you get through to them before someone rains on their parade then you may get a truthful answer but if not you might just get the standard blurb for the day. Think about walking a mile in their shoes.

What I don't get is that it has been spoken here on how long it is taking and everyone is special but you still are all in the same line and it's first come first serve. Calling everyday is not going to speed things up, in fact your slowing the process for others who have more urgent requirements to talk to an agent.

Every step of the way has now become longer and longer. So sit back, put your feet up and relax. Just trying to explain that you must be a realist when it comes to this entire process. Let me pre-warn you that AOS is taking almost 10 months and EAD is 4 months. AOS was 4 months and EAD was 45 days just a year or so. So things have changed and you must adjust your expectations.

I've been through this myself. When I was processing my wifes ROC California was finishing adjudicated their cases within 6 months and Vermont was taking 14 months. Same process for each of us but Cali was faster. Didn't feel fair then and it doesn't feel fair now. But, we couldn't do anything but wait.

Yes, I understand what you're saying but we do pay for this process and I expect to get correct answers. If someone doesn't like their job then they should get a different one. I used to be on the phones for 3 years and I wasn't rude to someone or give them misinformation. If I did, I could lose my job. Others recently have gotten their case to NVC within 9-14 days whereas I was being told that my case was still at USCIS 2 weeks later so yes I was furious. I am not concerned with how long AOS takes. My fiancé will be here at that point so I could care less about that part.

I did call back a second time to confirm that it was sent on 3/9, pretty sure I got the same agent that told me it wasn't sent yesterday and was told it was not sent. I requested to talk to someone else since I was given information it was sent on 3/9 and he spoke to a "higher agent" and said he went into a different system and he did see it was sent on 3/9. I don't think it's crazy to expect to get correct information. It's not going to speed it up but it does make me feel better when I know that my case was at least sent and when.

I agree with you 100% that you deserve to be told the correct information. But, it just doesn't happen. I know, I have helped hundreds here get their visa's and it's always the same except it's getting longer and longer. Your just causing yourself angst with higher expectations then what is being delivered by a Governmental body. It's frustrating but it is what it is. I feel you pain but I am just putting it out there for your consumption and others.

It will take anywhere for 2 weeks to 4 weeks. Calling will be a waste of time since you are still outside that window.

Thank you for replying. NVC already received our case, they normally take up to 3 business days to assign the case number.

I'd be curious to know the time line once you have completed NVC and the length of time for the file to arrive at your Embassy.

It's because the Immigrant Visa Unit at the embassy processes and interviews K1s. So you pick immigrant for checking status, making appointment, paying, etc. Something to watch for (could be different depending on Embassy)--your status will say Immigrant and date may change a few times, but when it switches to saying Non-immigrant, it's a sign they are close to printing your visa. Then status will say Issued once it's printed and a done deal. Watch for it.

Hi guys.

Please don't abuse the NVC workers. I know you're frustrated, but remember, they're getting hit with a bad snowstorm and cannot control what is going on with your case.

That is all. :)
