New to the group since I finally get approved on March 1 and well there's no one in the March version of this thread yet.

I'm not very patient, so I've already called NVC twice (they say they don't have my petition yet). BUT I called USCIS and talked to a tier 2 this morning and he said that my petition has been "in NVC staging since 3/2". He explained that that means that USCIS is trying to send it to NVC, but NVC is actually the one that waits to accept petitions in batches.

Does this mean I'm part of the electronic (1 - 5) group? Curious if anyone else has heard anything similar.

which means....delays.  delaying mail delivery from USCIS to NVC and NVC workers going to work, I'm sure the offices will be closed rest of the week peeps.

which means this will delay my case going from "At NVC" to "Transit" , telling you now I am very surprised I made it this far with all the fast balls thrown at me throughout this process.

I have read that USCIS sends the files electronically and not through mail. if that's true, there would be no delay sending the cases. Just a delay at NVC. Doubt they will be closed Friday since the advisory ends tomorrow.

I was approved on 2/27 so we're right around the same timeframe. I hope you're right and that they don't actually mail a physical copy! It would line up with what i read on the January thread that said they send it electronically. It makes sense that NVC would accept them in batches so they're not processing and doing data entry on a few petitions at a time but a batch at once. I'm assuming they implemented the electronic system due to the fact that some petitions in January did get sent to the retention center instead of NVC on accident. That's just my guess tho.

I mean, it seems like it would be terribly inefficient to mail hard copies from California to New Hampshire just to mail them to an embassy. I asked the tier 2 and he thought they were sent electronically, but wasn't sure. I wonder if it's just a shared FTP / server between the two agencies and it all depends on when they decide to pull your case (or batch) down.

How did the tier 2 know that your petition has been "in NVC stage staging" and NVC is waiting to accept the cases if he's not sure they're sent electronically?

I was told by a USCIS Tier II on Monday that applications are mailed to NVC in batches every 1 to 2 weeks by the truckload... I hope he's wrong, but who knows

He checked it on his computer, I assume it was a status update on my file. It did seem obvious to me that that would mean it's sent electronically. I guess you could technically call like a mail room a "staging area", but it wouldn't be typical. Who knows with USCIS!

They are INDEED mailed, not electronically.

every two weeks, and when I talked to a NVC worker on the phone he clearly said this " your packet was received in the mail room this morning , you can call again in 14 days to check for a case number"

mail room  = Mail truck delivery

so this is probably why it takes 2 weeks (14 days) from USCIS approval to NVC received.

I noticed your timeline says NVC left 2/21 then consulate received on the same date. On your case tracker did it ever say in transit? Do they send the case electronically?

My tracker said in transit and then received, but only for a little while because it was sent electronically.

Is it ok to have medical exam even my case number still " AT NVC"  right?

Thank you in advance for the answer.

You need to have interview appointment for you to be able to have your medical exam, am nt sure if you can book an interview appointment without embassy receiving your file from NVC.

my case number still says at NVC, I submitted ds160 when i received my noa2

Thank you in advance for the answer.

It depends on your embassy. For an example, for our embassy they allow that since medical is good for 6 months. My fiancé has his medical next Thursday and NVC hasn’t received our case yet.
