From what I have gathered, the NVC is testing a new Interactive Voice Response (IVR) that some of us will get when we call the NVC.Β

For example, when I would call, I would press 2, and then 7. Some people are being prompted to press 2, and then 5.

Β

From what I have gathered, those who are part of the option 5 group are seeing slower results than the option 7 group.

Β

@Van & Tiger, can you confirm that my assumptions are correct? :)

Good lord sorry for late response!

OK yeah you mostly have it.Β  I don't know if it's an IVR specifically but it is some sort of new electronic system.Β  If your case is on that, it's taking people almost exactly two weeks from arrival at NVC to receiving case number (myself included).Β  These are the people who are eventually instructed by option 7 people to dial option 5 instead.

If no one is telling you to dial 5, then keep trying at 7.Β  You'll be instructed at some point when callingΒ as to whether you need to switch.

I do not believe wet signatures are required. Β It doesn't need to be notarized. Β The way I read this a copy is allowed as long as the wet signature can be presented if needed. Β It must be signed but a copy is acceptable.

Β

NOTE: Signing Form I-134 is under penalty of perjury under U.S. law. For this reason, it is not necessary to sign Form I-134 before a notary, or to have your signature notarized after you sign it.

Β

Signature. Each af davit must be properly signed and led. For all signatures on this af davit, USCIS will not accept a stamped or typewritten name in place of a signature. If you are under 14 years of age, your parent or legal guardian may sign the af davit on your behalf. A legal guardian may also sign for a mentally incompetent person.

Β

Copies. You should submit legible photocopies of documents requested, unless the InstructionsΒ specificallyΒ state that you must submit an original document. USCIS may request an original document at the time of ling or at any time during processing of an application, petition, or request. If USCIS requests an original document from you, it will be returned to you after USCIS determines it no longer needs your original.

Β

Sponsor’s Statement, Contact Information, Certi cation, and Signature. Select the appropriate box to indicate whether you read this af davit yourself or whether you had an interpreter assist you. If someone assisted you in completing the af davit, select the box indicating that you used a preparer. Further, you must sign and date your af davit and provide your daytime telephone number, mobile telephone number (if any), and email address (if any). Every af davit MUST contain the signature of the sponsor (or parent or legal guardian, if applicable). A stamped or typewritten name in place of a signature is not acceptable.

Hello!

Β

We are very happy that our file is Ready at the Embassy! We received our instructions by e-mail, now preparing all the necessary documents. We were about to send via courier the I-134F and updated Letter of Intent. You think, getting scanned copies of bothΒ will be sufficient? We really do not want toΒ mess anything.Β

Β

Appreciate your help

I have a quick question I'm hoping you all can help me with. Does my fiancee need the NOA 2 that was sent to me? The original notice or can she bring a copy or does she even need it at all? Thank you!

Nope you will need it when you are adjusting your status.

Advise to everyone who needs Police Certificates from other countries:

Β

Start as soon as possible, you can do this right after submitting I-129F form.

If a US Embassy is helping in obtaining the certificate, they most likely going to ask your Approval Notice. This is NOA2, do not wait until NVC process and try to give them case #.

Β

This could have saved us 2-3 weeks now.

Yes, scanned copies should be fine. Make sure you find a way to have the originals ready in case they need them. Β At that point generally the embassy will hold the passport while waiting for the additional paperwork but I have seen many get through with scanned copies. Β Ultimately it is up to the CO.

Thank you for the information. We have 2 weeks at least, so it is better to present originals if we can.

I would scan and email copies just in case the snail mail doesn't get there in time. Β Keep copies of everything!

Hi all, I am sorry if it was already discussed but...
When they ask for police records for the interview I know that I need to bring one from Russia (I am from Russia).Β

Do I also have to bring one from the US? (It was the only country where I resided for over 6 months beside Russia).Β

Β

I have seen contradicting comments regarding this, so I wanted ot figure it out once and for all.Β

Thank you!

I am wondering the same thing. I have spent a lot of time in the States on a B1/B2 visa, but never 6+ months at a time (I think the most was 4.5 months before I went home and came back). In total though, I have been here easily 12+Β months over the past few years. Any advice would be very helpful! Thanks!
