Previous Residences

I don't know about all of you, but I came from a very dysfunctional family growing up, and at 18 was tossed out on my own. I lived at MANY different residences, with many different roommates, and in fact sometimes camped on the river for months in between jobs. In my 30s I settled down, got married and had a kid, and lived more of a "normal" life. When the ask for all the previous residences I've lived at since 18, from this day and year, to that day and year, it is IMPOSSIBLE for me to remember and give them. Any one else have a similar situation? How precise do you have to be answering that question?

First of all, sorry about your rough sounding childhood. You'll just have to do your very best. Take some time to really think back to what you were doing at certain times in your life and give what you believe to be the most accurate information. I don't think it will hurt you if you fail to recall the exact dates and they end up being a bit off but be as precise as you can.

I have a similar situation. I provided at least seven addresses on my K1. I didn't get a RFE for it. Just list as many as you can, and if you have to pull out google maps to help you find addresses, it's a good tool.

 

Also, my rule of thumb was that I listed places that I had mail sent to. If I just crashed somewhere for a month and had no record of it on my taxes, I didn't include it.
