A semi-automatic weapon is very similar to a machine gun, that's why I called it a semi-machine gun.

That's the first time I've heard anyone compare a Glock  to a machine gun.

But full auto on an M-4 is so inaccurate that it is almost never used.  Single shot or burst is, because then you can actually hit your target.

3 round burst is more accurate than full auto and it saves ammo, which is why the military started using it.

My wife who is a LPR, can buy a gun in ga with no background check at any local gun store or gun retailer

Does she have a CC card?  If so, then I would agree, since the BG check was already completed.  If no CC card, a BG check will be run.

i guess the six year old should have been armed and properly trained to defend himself from bad guys committing 'family violence'

I'm sure the man was just standing near the violent gun when it went on a shooting rampage.  Clearly it's not his fault.  We either need to ban guns or restaurants, maybe both?

I bet he wishes his daddy was carrying and could have fought back and protected the family.

because that's how it works. sitting at a restaurant eating, a masked family member rushes up on the patriarch and his loving family -  the bad guy pulls a gun and starts firing..but it's texas so daddy already had his gun drawn resting right next to his sweet tea! daddy grabs his weapon to return fire but oh, wait..the masked family member has already shot up his family. gee. too bad real life isn't like the movies. in the movies, no one gets hit by the first couple shots but the extras and good guys always have weapons ready and get to return fire.

Yes, it’s easy to make light of that which ye are not familiar with.  And admittedly, you and I have never had this happen to us.  But it does happen, on almost a daily basis.  (Far more often than a school or night club shooting). And odds are, it will never happen to “us”.  But if it does happen, you can either have an option to fight back, or no option at all.  I’d much rather die trying than just die.  It’s not for everyone, obviously.  But it is an option.

I have customers that open carry on a somewhat regular basis. Never made me think twice.

you guys don't know what you're talking about. i'm at work right now. there are numerous guns in this building with me right now, in cars in the parking, on employees, a few in safes, some in the back (probably not stored as they should be). all sorts of employee carry guns here, matter of fact - some are going hunting first thing in the morning to kill stuff for a game dinner coming up. i live in virginia, in the sticks. you think i don't know cc is everywhere? pfft.

Ok, Annie Oakley... are you now telling us that you CC to dinner, and the story told above was a parable about something that happened to you once upon a time?

nope, i don't cc. you said i wasn't familiar with cc. that's ridiculous. nb said he has customers that cc all the time. yeah well, you live in a state with cc and guns are all around you all the time.

the 'story' was in response to the ridiculous argument that a good guy with a gun is going to be able to protect anyone from an attack like that. if the whole good guy with a gun thing were true, you'd think that a good guy, instead of le, would have taken out a bad guy in any one of the mass shootings that have occurred in the us. that hasn't happened.
