Hello all

i have my booked in for my immigration appointment for an IR1 (spouse) visa at the US Consulate in London (note that this is now Vauxhall not the old address).

My my confirmation email doesn’t say how late I can cancel the appointment if required. Does anyone know?

Cancel? In other words you are not going to immigrate after all? Or do you just want to postpone it to a later date?

Timeline in brief:

Married: September 27, 2014

I-130 filed: February 5, 2016

NOA1: February 8, 2016 Nebraska

NOA2: July 21, 2016

Interview: December 6, 2016 London

POE: December 19, 2016 Las Vegas

N-400 filed: September 30, 2019

Interview: March 22, 2021 Seattle

Oath: March 22, 2021 COVID-style same-day oath

There have been suggestions online that if you cancel the appointment it will be considered a denied visa as you did not fulfill the requirements for the visa. The interview is one of the requirements for the visa. A denied visa means the VWP is out of the question for some time and must always be declared in the future. It would therefore be better to attend the interview, get the visa and then not use it if your plans have changed. An unused visa is not a denied visa and will not cause problems later on.

The former.  I should have been clearer. I mean if I have to reschedule it. Ie cancel the first one and take a later date.
