Paying the $265 K-1 fee--how to?

The K-1 fee is $265 payable at the bank in local currency.  Do you simply ask the bank, to calculate how many piso is required?  Today it seems that the exchange rate at the Embassy is $1=52p.  Xoom rate is 50.5 and I'd suspect at the bank they will require 53 per dollar or maybe even more (I don't know but banks are usually not a good place to exchange currency).  I'd hate to have it rejected because it's off by a few hundred peso.  I know that you must print out the unique slip and bring that to the bank.

Also, how/where does my fiancee get the police report and how long does that take?  She's from Balamban, Cebu.  Cost?

Thanks

And this might be of use to some in the earlier stages in Cebu:  Getting a Passport in Cebu City is just stupid-screwed up as (at least last summer, there was no way you could get an appointment unless you bought one) so my fiancee simply went to Dumaguete, Negros Oriental which made it quite easy, no wait there.

Yep.  Paid in pesos at the current exchange rate.

I believe she needs the NBI police certificate.  She will need to go to the local NBI office for that.  I do not recall if Rose had to pay anything but if she did it was minimal.  I believe Rose ordered it from NBI and picked it up a week later.

Remember she will also need police certs from any country she lived for more than 6 months in after the age of 16.

That info is in Hank's link, too.

Thank you.  I went looking for an NBI office near her and found

https://cebufinest.com/get-nbi-clearance-cebu/

It seems that there are four in Cebu

– Paseo Arcenas (R. Arcenas St., Banawa, Cebu City)
– J. Center Mall (J. Centre Bldg, A.S. Fortuna St., Mandaue City)
– Enan Chiong Activity Center (East Poblacion, Naga City)
– Old Municipal Hall (Bogo City)

Pio vertido on google made this comment:

“One tip is that process ahead your online registration and payment. I think there will be additional 30mins to 1hr if you process the registration and payment there because of the limited computer to use for registering”

My poor asawa to be has yet another day of travel ahead of her, at least there are good busses there.

You print out a deposit slip, from HERE, bring that deposit slip to BPI (larger branch) and pay the amount listed on the deposit slip.

Did your fiancee reside in a foreign country for 6 months or more?  If NO, then no police clearance is needed, but an NBI is required per the instructions letter.

Take some time and read the embassy instructions letter, and the info listed on this site  http://www.visaconnection-philippines.com/k-1-visa-application.html

Hank, it takes her half a day to go to a "larger branch" of BPI, long, long way....there is a small BPI in Balamban---can that be used or does she really need to spend a day to go pay this fee?

She needs to apply online for the NBI Clearance, set an appointment date on nearest NBI branch because NBI is no longer accepting walk-in applicants. Here's the link https://clearance.nbi.gov.ph/.

She will pay Php 140, I paid mine at the nearest LBC branch (it depends though on which payment method she will choose)
