Ok.

My girl just flew home to Peru today. Should land in Lima pretty soon.

We met online at Latin Cupid. Been video calling for 4 months, and since her job thru the school got cut off for the summertime (down there, anyway), she was able to visit me here in JAX, FL for 2 months.

We are not some "pups", or internet newbies. I am 62, and she is 60. Had an awesome time, and I proposed on New Year's Day. Our plan is for me to file the K1-fiance visa now, I plan to fly there in May, meet her family, and

go to Machu Picchu, and mark one off my Bucket List. Stay there for 9 days. Come back to my $57,000 a year job.

Continue the whole visa process, and hopefully bring her here by November.

After marrying within 90 days when she finally gets here, we plan on both working for 4 years, and move back to her apartment flat she owns in Lima (worth $180.000), and with my $75,000. in savings and a steady

$1650. social security in the bank each month, we should live just fine.

Flaws in my plan? Suggestions? Pretty new to all this, so just askin'......

If you want to pernamently live abroad at some point wait until she has her US citizenship. That way you won't have to worry about her losing her green card in case you ever want to visit or move back to US.  As a US citizen she can live abroad as long as she wants. As only a green card holder - only up to a year.

It won't come close to happening by November. Currently the wait for approval for k1 is 6-7 months, after which it's 4 months or so for transit time and her scheduling an interview. You're looking at 10+ months for k1 visa. Keep in mind she will hsve to sit around for another 4-6 months after before adjusting status too.

You get married in Peru  (or anywhere else) and apply for cr1 visa you're talking a 12-14 month wait total time and she will have a green card from day 1 so she can travel, work, volunteer, whatever she wants. It's a much better visa with only slightly longer wait.

November is not do-able regardless, sorry

I haven't kept abreast of current wait times on k1's so I won't comment on that. Long term, if you're going to retire to Peru, you should make sure you qualify for an affordable health plan, whether that's private insurance or a public plan. I'm not familiar with health insurance or health care in Peru, but I know in Colombia the care is tiered. Basic plans offer basic care but if you have more serious health problems the out of pocket costs go way up. Good luck. Your plan doesn't sound bad to me.
