Hello,

My daughter was born outside of the U.S.

Since, I counldn't prove my physical presents, instead of Consular report of birth abroad, I applied IR-2 for my daughter.

I understand that under Child Citizenship Act, upon entry of U.S. my daughter is eligible for automatic U.S. Citizenship.

therefore I'm going to apply my daughter's U.S. passport by submiting..Foreign birth certificate + Foreign passport with I-551 stamp, etc..

When I take a look at the ds-11 form (passport application) I can't find any information about changing name.

with my situation, does anybody know how can change name?

I don't want to use my daughter's foreign passport name for U.S. passport.

Why didn’t you give the child the name you wanted?

You have to go through the court procedure of your state to change your daughter’s name. After you have the finalized court documents then apply for her US passport.

even at the beginning i wanted to give my daughter a American name with the spelling

but the pronunciation was totally different from the country that she was born.

so i had to change the spelling to make it sound like what i intended.

Now with that, it becomes funny when I use that as my daughter’s name on the U.S passport. besides, i also want to add a middle name for my daughter

You need to apply at the courts. Check your area for the steps you need to take. Without a court order you cannot change it.
