What will the high temp be in Lima Peru today?

Weather.com says it is currently 68 degrees in Lima, with an expected high of 78.

In a fight between Sasquatch, the Abominal Snowman, Santa Claus and a leprechaun......who would win?

The sasquatch and the Abominable Snowman have a definite advantage in strength and natural armourment... but Santa would win the fight without mussing a whisker - have you EVER seen a bedraggled Santa?

What is the angle of the leaning tower of Piza

Hmmm... this one seems a little harder to locate than you'd expect it to be! I'm working on it :)

In 1998, the leaning tower had sagged to an angle of 5.6 degrees, which doesn't sound like much but which sure adds up! A researcher at the time determined that if it tilted another 1.4 degrees it would no longer be leaning, but rather fallen down!

http://www.endex.com/gf/buildings/ltpisa/l...pdisc092298.htm

As a result of this study, a major engineering work occured and they decreased the angle of lean, which should keep the tower standing for another three hundred years...

In 1990, the Leaning Tower of Pisa was closed as there was a threat of collapse. This was because it was subsiding at the rate of 0.03 inches a year. Engineers undertook a strengthening project that decreased the lean by 17 inches to about 13.5 ft. The work was completed in May 2001 and reopened for public in June 16, 2001.

I'm in the market for a car.

Should I buy new or certified pre-owned?

Hyundai or Honda or Toyota or Mazda?

Oh, one more question. When will I get my tax refund?

I'm afraid I know less than nothing about cars! DH wanted to trade his car in and the dealers said that we couldn't have a 'new' 2005 model because it was now classified as 'second-hand' even though it hadn't left the factory... so a 'new' car isn't necessarily that!

Personally, I'd think it depends on how much driving you intend to do... DH drives for four to six hours a day so he had to have a new car for reliability - but if I ever actually learn to drive and we get a second car it'll be a junker because I'm only going to be using it to buy the groceries etc.

And for the second question, have you lodged your return yet? If so, you should be getting your check soon. H&R Block said we could pick up our check two weeks after putting in the tax return.

Let me try my google-fu on that one

Here's an interesting article about King Tut and his tomb -

http://www.touregypt.net/featurestories/tutt.htm

To summarise, the tomb was discovered on November 4th 1922, and it's quite small and simple as such things go. The reason it was so important was that it was almost unlooted and it contained 3,500 artifacts! (it showed signs of having been broken into at least twice, but they didn't strip it...)

Here's some more interesting info on Tut...

Did you know that he was buried in three nested sarcophagi? The inner two are on display in the Cairo museum, and they put the outer sarcophagi back into Tut's tomb, with Tutenkhaman inside. This makes him the only pharoah to still in his original resting place...

this thread is pure entertainment!!!

okay... my turn... when do you think we will get our noa2?

I'm afraid the ways of the USCIS are mysterious and cannot be found in Google...

I agree with jenn. The Leprechaun would seriously wipe out all other challengers.

He even has a tricycle.

I think the leprechaun takes it too.....he is small and agile and would allow the others to beat each other up. Sasquatch and the Snowman would wear each other out and that is where Santa comes in for the kill by hitting them both with his sled and calling in Rudolf for an assist. While Santa is preoccupied with that, the Leprechaun hits Santa over the head with a pot of gold.......after the fight you see a rainbow.

That's how I see it going down.
